Average Putts Per Round?

Does anyone count the length of putts they hole added together ?

I've thought about this.
To be honest, I don't actually "calculate" the length of the putt - it brings in another thought process that I don't need. I don't need to know that the putt is 14 feet - just that I need to hit it "this" hard....

Might do it today - going solo this afternoon - will report back later Group Captain Bob!

I have never counted my putts, would that not put pressure on yourself to try to get a number ? my best medal plays (won 2) was when i did not think about checking scores and probably the exact opposite happened when i tried to count.

Look at Westwood at the Masters, he had about 15 putters more than Mickleson at one stage but was still in front of him.
Id rather be missing the green and chipping to within a foot and tapping in for a birdie than face a 50ft for birdie and then leave a horrible 5 footer for par. End result, a satisfactory par from the chip and go off the green nice and calm, or a par but feeling like you were under pressure and nervous after holing out.
Make your own mind up!
Still the same on the card. Putts doesnt matter, neither do greens in regulation as such but its about the final score.
Whats the point taking 5 to get to the green and then holing out on every hole. Well done 18 putts but 36 over par.

no because it would be a meaningless stat to have.

However, the number of putts holed under 6 feet, 6-12ft, 12-20ft, 20ft+ combined with total holes played would be a useful stat imo

Another round today, different course and my putting was off on the practice greens nevermind on the course. 37 putts today, which included 2 x 3 putts. Now that's more like me!

Which proves the point of not just counting putts to determine if it was good...one birdie, 2 bogies, 15 pars, and every green in regulation gives you 37 putts.... on its own it gives you nothing to determine if you putting was any good. Putting is just one past game, there are no prizes for lowest putts per round.

32 - 33 PUTTS.

Last 72 holes i've only had 1 3 jab. Delighted at that.

Can I ask those who track putting stats do you only count your putts on the green or those from the fringes too?

Average for me on the green over the last 4 medals has been 32, including putts from the fringe it's 36.

Only on the green for me val.

Have to say me too but I can have 6 putts a round from the fringes regularly. You've played enough with me now to see my ropey putting so stats sometimes don't paint the full picture.

32 putts a round is a decent average but you will almost guarantee with me 2 or 3 a round will be 3 jabs.
