I've only been getting a game once a week at the moment, as vie been training for a half marathon on the 13th march.
Don't have any competitions till April and the opening match at Tain is on the 27th Captain V Vice Captain and I'm at Machrihanish that weekend.
I'm not a range person so the only hit I've had is on a Saturday during a game.

Will need to start doing some practice in the next few weeks, but happy with my game apart from chipping and pitching and that's just because I haven't been practicing.

Are you ready for the new season and if not what do you need to work on to get there?

Desperately need to work on tempo. Keep trying to lash every thing from the top, but when I swing smoothly the ball goes much further. I have a nice tempo with the short irons, but not with anything longer than a 7i. Will make a start on Wednesday evening. If I can sort this, then I'm going to have a good season.

As ready as I'll ever be Patrick my dear boy!

Apart from the occassional big block caused by being too quick from the top I'm hitting the wee white ball well enough!

Nope, not ready.

I need to completely change my swing path to get rid of my horrid slice with the driver and the big pull with the irons. I had a lesson yesterday and saw what happens when I get it right. However, trying to get rid of many years of ingrained muscle memory is going to take a long time. It's still a relief to know what the cause of the problem is (diagnosed on here, confirmed by my coach) and also to know that i'm on the right path (pun fully intended).

:D

I can't wait until we're back on to normal tees, fairways etc. I've been working hard this winter on my swing and with the help of some new bats i'm well up for playing a lot of golf this year.

Two areas still need some work, namely driving accuracy and putting. Once these 2 are behaving better i expect to knock at least 4 shots off the handicap this year, and who knows, single figures?

Is this like when people say "I'm going to go on a diet...starting monday!" ;)

As for me, my swing troubles are well documented. I need to get my new swing ingrained and get back to consistently swinging on the full with my new swing.

Once that's sorted, my putting and chipping from around the green is priority number 1. My pitching seems to be O.k, but around the greens and on the greens I have the touch of a small elephant.

Once that's sorted, I should be down to single figures in no time! Yea right!

This sort of sums me up as well - apart from the Wednesday evening bit.... :D

I'm with Murph on tempo. One change from my pro to work on which focuses on improving rotation and being less wristy. When I get this right tempo is better, I hit the ball further and straighter. If I can get this right I'll be cooking on gas when the season starts.

If I can stop drinking and practise a little bit I know I'd have a great year on the course. Not sure It would be as much fun at times though!!

Pretty sure the people I play with would appreciate it too as I am one grumpy b'tard at times with a hangover.

My game is slowly coming together. Have done a lot of work this winter with the birds uncle and feel it is getting there.

Played on saturday with him walking round with me and main thing was he got me thinking a bit more like a golfer. Also made some big strides with the putter.

Next plan is to work hard on 100 yards and in. Can't wait to be a member at a club again! :D

Not yet. After working hard for 4 months with my coach I was playing worse than ever.

I finally got fed up last week and went to see a different pro. He's basically told me all the problems the other pro has been trying to fix are down to my grip.

Grip fix is easy, stopping myself doing all the things I've been doing to compensate for it. Not so easy.

It's actually reall p***ed me off. I've been working really hard and spent quite a bit on lessons and the new pro is basically confirmed what I had been feeling suspecting for a little while now.

One lesson with him last week and a few range sessions practicing and my swing is starting to feel 'normal' not forced. Got another lesson today to check on progress.

ironically when I video it, it looks (and feels) similar to my swing before the other pro started changing it.

So 4 months wasted me thinks, but back on the right track now.

Still working hard trying to get this in to out swing path gone. its wrecking cards and that dam draw based shot gives violent bounces and i dont like it. the putting is not pretty much there with the odd rare 3 putt poping up but i can cope with 1 a round. chipping and pitching is alot better so its just the longer sticks that need this swing flaw fixed. its been a good start to the season already and pinkies are cross to get as close to 10 by the end of the year as possible. My aim was from 15 to 12 by may ish, and im already at 13.4 so things are on track nicely.

After my game on Sunday, I need to work on my short game!.Driving the ball well, short game pants...Anyway the sun is shining, so I've taken the afternoon off work to practice :)

After a winter of little golf, everything is a little rusty tbh.

Played yesterday, in springlike conditions, course was good, but my body just didnt feel loose enough to swing with ease as I normally do.

Could be down to the weeks skiing I've just had, and the work in the garden clear-up etc, but I'm sure its just early season tightness.

Get a warm day, with just a Polo on, and I'm sure it will flood back.

Perhaps......

What new season ?. I play golf all year, play in all the winter comps, and don't notice the change in seasons. Was i supposed to be just practicing over the winter.

I will admit living in the south does have its advantages over the winter, and also playing on sand based course with great drainage. ;) ;)

Things coming together now for the season.
I've been trying to get a better compression on my irons and it's proving good on 7-Pw. Giving around a 1 club increase in distance and the accuracy is as good if not better than before. Need to work on 4-6 iron a bit more.
1 and 3 hybrids really good. Driver a bit on and off at the moment but never really in the ging.
Putting needs some work but that should come back quickly.
A few short game sessions up at St Andrews should see my touch around the greens get back to where it was.

If I can get it together by the middle of April, hopefully a shot or so off by the time I get to Turkey in May. :D :D
