I was just reading the BBC Sport website and Liv erpool are now £350,000,000 in debt. I gues when you look at it the EPL's clubs have a combined debt of over £3bn. Now I am no economist but all I can hear is a ticking time bomb that will wipe out 5 or 6 clubs in the next 10 years.

I guess the frugal SPL should look on in envy but I am sure wee clubs like mine (Motherwell) will still exist long after the glamour clubs of the EPL will have gone base over apex.

Cheers Al, thats me 40 and feeleing it too.

I agree Boyle chucked plenty wonga at it years ago but since then we have produced home grown players that learn their trade snd move on to better things.

I remember watching Goram, Brannan and Spencer take enough money out the club in a week that would have paid me for 2 years. When Brannan decided to represent the Cayman Isles I decided to cancel my season ticket and take up golf.

I have heard that The 'well will run at a profit this year which is rare in the current climate. When you look at the EPL the debts are unsustainable. If SKY took the hump the whole lot would fall apart.

It had to happen,the cash thrown about by Davies and was it Kampman??was silly stuff for a wee club but it was at a time us,Scotlands Shame and even Hearts were chucking cash around like it was going out of fashion.

I think that we may get a club or two up here going tits up...Jam Tarts,Dons,Dunfermline even the Shame may be forced into admin but down south I have been saying it for ages something has to give...these clubs,even the huge ones are living outwith their means.

Any other business bar Football and the likes of Pompey,West Ham,Rangers and many more would have been called in by the banks a while ago!

EPL=House Of Cards

There is only one way for the EPL to go and that is downward.
It is outragous that institutions like Mun U. and Liverpool can be bought by debt!!

Platini is trying to remedy this. His suggestion is that any club participating in the CL has to be financially sound. It's a good idea in principal - it'd never happen. I think most clubs in the CL are in trouble financially.

There are far too many clubs in English football that are in financial trouble and I do believe that the FA have to take some responsibility. The FA are supposed to conduct the 'fit and proper persons' test before a club can appoint a new manager. How on earth have Portsmouth been allowed five managers this season, four of which had no money?? How on earth could the Glaziers take over at Man U and saddle them with £700,000 of debt?? Likewise with Liverpool. Surely, the FA ask for evidence that the new owners are financially viable. If not, why not.

It's a bubble that when it bursts, will have MASSIVE implications.
