halfway through my lesson last night and was asked by the pro "if i minded him having a go with my club " foolishly allowed him to and stood there open mouthed as he proceeded to hit my nine iron past the 150 marker, no effort just a nice simple swing and it went like an arrow, now if only it did that for me,

I know full well how you feel.
Taken 3 lessons now and the speed of the swing is my biggest challenge.
My pro hit my 5 iron 180 yards without any effort. I must be swinging 180 mph and hitting the 18 yards.
When will it sink in?

It's all about timing and quality of strike.

Distance has never really been a problem for me but control has. Pro got me to practice swinging as if I was playing a half swing. When I first started trying it I tried to imagine I was hitting my PW with a half swing as that was the most smooth relaxed shot I played. Not only has my dispersion, control and accuracy improved but I was hitting the same distance. Worked wonders for me

I used a slightly different way but got to the same result and it starts to feel really good
