Go back 6 months ago i was bombing my drives with a driver 280 yards and pretty straight!! Now i cant hit my driver at all, most of the time its a hook or a big draw!! Then the odd time it will go straight. Its just so hit and miss and its the main part of my game thats costing me shots!

Its our last comp this saturday and im thinking of just putting my 4 - pw plus wedges in my bag with no driver to see what happens.

Well, sometimes I leave the driver out depending on my mood. You have nothing to lose so give it a go, it might mean laying up on longer par 4's though.

yeah at least i wouldnt be chipping out of the trees all the time!!! There is the odd time a will hit my 4 iron slightly left but its not as bad as when i use my driver. I hit my irons normally really well its my driving that lets me down.

My course aint the longest of courses so i should get away with not using it hopefully!!

Is that out the bag completely or are you conditioned to overlook it when it starts going wrong mid-round?

Even though my place is getting on for 7000 yards of the whites and it might be getting lengthened. you don't really need the driver on that many holes.

yeah i can hit my 4 iron around 220 and pretty straight!!

I will prob leave my 3 wood in the bag if my 4 iron fails me..

I have tried everything with my driver, going to pure basics but it just aint happening!!

I shall leave the driver out the bag for Saturday and see what happens

There's a lesson in there - I promised myself not to take driver on the 9th last weekend but after a very messy 8th grabbed it in a red mist moment to 'try and claw back a score' One OOB later and then back to game plan - 4i, wedge and 2 putt came off with a 6 - silly silly me.

Finished 3 shots back from a win, 1 shot off 2nd place!

Must try harder to leave it in the bag .........
