Was wondering if anyone could advise if you are expected to pay two sets of affiliation fees if you join a second club. I was under the impression that you only pay them on your nominated 'home' club. I cant find it anywhere on the net for Scotland although it's clearly stated in EGU website. Anyone point me in the right direction?

It's always included in the fees you pay your club. Never heard of anyone trying to dodge it, administrative nightmare. From what I recall from my time as a treasurer, the SGU expect you to pay fees on every full member, nothing about dual membership exceptions.

Trying to 'Dodge' it? What makes you think that? Maybe i didn't ask the question properly. I'm now a member of a second club and they also are charging affiliation fees for the relevant golf unions. So im actually paying twice. You have to nominate your home club so your handicap can be serviced. EGU states clearly that you only pay once for these fees if a member of two clubs. I'm asking if it's different in Scotland or has my second club made an error?

i've been a member a more than one club a a number of times and always paid the SGU fee regardless. I think it was only a few quid anyway

As others said you just always pay it with subs at each club.

I think this is an issue about to bite Scottish golf as they are trying to hike the fee. I know I wasn't happy double paying when I was a member at two clubs but shrugged it off as it wasn't much. That looks likely to change, however.

As you said FD, it's more the principal of the thing, the money is minuscule. Just thought it odd as a serving match secretary that we service 'home club nominated players' handicaps, so got me thinking what do you actually get for the dual charge? Not a lot by the looks of it. I read about the potential hike in fees. Brings us into line with others apparently lol.
