A round before the British masters - Durham ish

Hi all,

A few of us have tickets to watch the first round of the British masters and hope to get a round in ourselves the day before, on the Wednesday.

We'll be coming up the A1 and staying a couple of miles from the course in a place called Wylam. We're looking for a course somewhere around that area from Durham to Wylam, just so that we haven't got too far to drive afterwards. All we need is a fairly flat course and buggies for hire (father in law struggles to get around these days).

Would be great to have some suggestions from you.

Hexham. Lovely course & not far from Wylam. A little bit of up & down but not much. Ryton, nearby, is dead flat.

P. S. There are parts of Close House your F I L will have trouble reaching. You need crampons to reach the 10th!

Can't play but enjoy Wylam mate, some cracking pubs down there.

Matfen Hall is a gem of a course, the original 18, as it has 27 holes. My favourite course up here

Forget golf! If you're in wylam just spend a day in the boathouse, absolutely no walking required, even less walking when you leave!
