Played in our yearly works golf competion again today which i came last the year before with a shocking 14 points.

But today records were broken!

I heard that sumone had only scored 4 points but when the results came in there was sumone that only scored 1 point!

It's only the 2nd time he has played 18 holes but it must be a record.

I came in with a poor 24 points with 7 blobs!

Got me a £50 American golf voucher so can't complain.

So....... With my 38 today, I'd have stood a chance :whoo:

You would have won by a point!

37 points won it by a guy of 19 who supposedly hadn't picked a club up all year.

It was really tough conditions as it was a good 20mph wind and gusting to 30mph at times and no run at all due to the 2 days of heavy rain before.

Pretty much the same conditions I played in fella. Definatley made for some interesting club selections

Yeah tell me about it, 120 yard uphill par3 that must have played 135 yards, wind helping so I took a gentle 9 iron and flew the green by 20 yards!

Going the opposite way had 135yards into the wind for my 3rd shot on a par4, nailed a 7 iron and it came up short!

We've got a guy in our society we call "binary clive" for obvious reasons but I don't think he's ever managed only 1 point. He did manage 2 on the last meeting though.

Someone came in with 2 points in our golf week. I suggested that they give him a bottle of wine for having the sporting spirit to put the card in

Everyone got a prize, 1st place got a pick of all the prizes then it just carried on like that till last place, think he ended up with a £10 voucher for a local pro shop.

The prizes were really good to choose from, motocaddy electric trolley, about 4 ping woods/rescues, 4 ping/taylormade putters, bottles of decent whiskey, vouchers etc.

Oh and a DeWalt electric drill!

Wow, I don't feel quite so bad about my 15pts today now - although I did just add them up and I had 121 strokes. And if you think that's bad, that's only over 16 holes (par 65). I blobbed two par 3s as well :mmm:

And to think I was trying to find someone to mark a card for handicap today. Thank god there was no-one around at the right time. I'll stick with the unofficial 28

One of our works society comps last year and someone came in with 0 points (yes zero!!) The poor guy had hacked it round and was unhappy enough but what made it even worse was that its the one event in the year where we play mystery partners where you put your cards in and then two are drwan out at random and the scores added up to give the overall winners so he was dreading the outcome.

I came 3rd overall (having had the 3rd best individual score) so was happy enough.

The guy who got zero had his card pulled out with the guy who had had the highest overall score of the day at 39 points and they ended up comming last overall as a pair - you could not have made it up it better!!

The chap on 39 points is a bit competitive and had been asking round who had what scores trying to guage who was left in the hat to be drawn with. He did not really see the funny side of it and stomped off in a strop - much to everyone enjoyment:whoo:
