I know this has come up before, and the general consensus seems to be "Don't take it seriously, it's just a laugh", or "It's not real golf, I don't play in it".

My clubs is in a couple of weeks and I've never played one so I'm in it.

The difference with ours is that it's played from the Ladies tees so the plan is welly driver on pretty much every hole and GW on. Then a 6 or 7 for the longer holes and par 3's.

Good idea or would you take 3 evenly spaced out clubs like 4, 7, PW?

I won ours this year. Didn't fancy playing in it but my m8's convinced me to give it a go for fun. I was of the mind it wasn't 'real' golf so wasn't interested.

We played off the yellow tee's, not the ladies.

I took 3h, 7i and a PW.

I was amazed. The 3h kept the ball in play off the tee, the 7i got me on or near the green in 2. The PW got me on the green or near the pin.

I shot 4 under my hcp

Most guys took a driver out and got themselves in trouble off the tee. Whereas I just kept the ball in play, made a huge difference.

Never played in 1 of these things but think I would go with 5 wood, 8 iron 52 deg wedge....I've experimented with 1/2 and 3/4 swings with my 5 wood recently after a discussion in another thread so its good for anything from 160 to 210 yards, the 8 iron for 140 yard full shots and bump and runs and the 52 deg is my favourite club from 80 yards out.

I played in one at our club, but it was off the medal tees. I took 3 wood, 7 iron, 52 deg wedge and putter.

Was good fun, and I got to play shots I would not normally consider, helped me a bit too as now I know that I can be more creative if need be.

I'd go with
Wedge
0 - 90 yards
8 iron
110, 130 and 150 yards
5 wood
170, 190 an 210 yards
Make sure you take it easy and hit the fairwaya and greens and it is very realistic to shoot around your handicap, especially from the ladies

Played in mine on Saturday took 3.W 5.I and P.w scored 28 pts in a fifteen hole comp with two blobs and two birdies.

I would advise anyone never to take driver out unless you are very good at hitting off the deck.

Having looked at the clubs I used in last Saturdays medal, off the back tees I would take driver, 3 hybrid and 50 degree wedge. I don't think I used any others anyway.

hybrid - good for 160-200
8i - 100-140
52* - can be opened up for sand saves and good for 90 down

havent played in one yet but everyone who does says their a hoot.

I'd always use driver as thats my best club of the tee. After that it wouldnt be much to the greens off the ladies anyhow. Probs take my 51 wedge and maybe 7 or 8 iron. More like a pitch and putt off ladies tees tbh

Driver would be great if the red tees make most of the par4s driveable. But if it's going to leave you 30 or 40 yds over traps all the time then I'd take 3wood.

Then put in one club that will cover you for the par 3s and your favourite, most versatile wedge.

My pal always carrys his golfbag. Our 16th is a par-3 over a pond next to the clubhouse. After making his teeshot he always leaves his bag next to the tee-box, takes his putter, sandwedge and 4-iron and finishes the last 2 holes with these 3 clubs because his bag has become too heavy after threeandahalf hours. :D :D :D

I think if I took a long iron, a mid iron, and a wedge I could comfortably play to my handicap or a few below off the red tees.

But since I'm in it I may as well try to win it, and if I'm driving well I think (famous last words :o) that I could absolutely muller the course with the big dog and a wedge.

I shouldn't need to hit it off the deck because any holes that I can't reach off the ladies tees with a drive and a 7 iron will be par 5's, and even then I'll only be a pitch away as the longest is around 460.

I should start worrying if I were you, that's exactly how I'm thinking :D

With hardly any run on the fairways, there'll only be 1 maybe 2 that are driveable, but not many holes with bunkers in front.

There are 3 par 3's all under 160, 11 par 4's all under 360, and 4 par 5's the longest being 459.

The other consideration is that my hybrid or 3 wood are not guaranteed to be any straighter than my driver.

Thanks for everyone's input.
