2015 US Open course - best potential Major 2015?

Guess so.
I've just seen so many US Opens won by the least worst player or the one that makes least mistakes rather than the player who takes his chances when he's been able to create them

isnt that how every golf comp in the world (incl monthly medals) is won

If it's as hard running as predicted I don't think the USGA will then add shin deep rough. They will make it juicy but I would suggest playable. It will be a good test. I'm another who gets easily bored of target golf and a birdie fest every week and would rather see players having to work hard to make a score where every shot is a premium. So many USPGA courses are blaster's courses and you can make a score from almost anywhere

I like that each of the four majors are different from each other. That's why only 5 players so far have been able to win them all in their careers.

I wouldn't want the US Open to be a free for all like the PGA. I like that it's an absolute slog. They only get it that hard once a year!

After kaymer won last year the usga must be looking for a riposte! plus a new course as well so they dont want the lights shot out of it.

these are the best players in the world and should be able to play any course in any conditions.

So you approve of them twisting par, moving a few 550 yard par-5s into 520 yard par-4s just to trim the par and protect the scared level par?

I could not disagree more, and I think that idea completely misses the point. It also fails hideously to identify the best players. It identifies players like Andy north and Hale Irwin and is why the US Open was a dull and almost moribund event.

Thankfully the R&A doesn't agree with you either.

Was there not a matchplay tournament played on this course, where Patrick Reed won the opening hole with a 9? Should make for an interesting event!

Webb Simpson, Lucas Glover, Lee Janzen twice, Steve Jones and Scott Simpson could be added to that list! It was ironic that Faldo never won the US Open but won the Masters three times.

Why make all 4 majors the same? There is a good mix at the mo. Look at the drama at the USPGA last year. It wouldnt have been the same if Rickie, Rory and Phil were battling to save par rather than battling to make birdies. Augusta has their way, the USGA has their way, the R&A have their way and the PGA sit somewhere in between. And, for me, the differences between the majors works well. Arguably the only thing that isnt about right is that 3 of the majors are in the US rather than being spread around the globe like Tennis' Grand Slams.

Totally agree. Bore fest of players hacking it out of the rough with wedges because they can't hit 20 yard wide fairways. Hitting long irons into rock hard greens designed for shorter irons, and running through because they have no chance of holding them.

I personally like to see a Major won with around 8-10 under. Still gives players 5 or 6 shots back the chance of shoting a 65, and players leading to shoot a 75. The more players in the mix the more exciting for me. Works for the Masters.
