2011/12 Virtual Round

Perfect for my 4 iron!

Settle back, smooth swing and a nce contact.
Ball starts a little right but draws back to find the centre of the green and a 20 footer for the first birdie of the day.

Who wants it?

I'll give it a go. Must admit I'm a bit nervous with the expectation of the forum on me. It's a left to right breaker, about 2" outside the cup and slightly uphill. A couple of practice strokes and I let her go. It's tracking nicely and looks like it has a chance but about 2 feet out it hits a spike mark and misses agonisingly on the low side. A couple of inches left for a tap-in par...

Tapped in rather embarrassingly and then leads to the next.

Its 233 YRD par 3 over a would could best be described as a valley.... 3 wood out jus looking to hit it as long as I can and straight to at least it the upside of the dip........... swing

Its straight ..........its long (ish) its hit the up slope......wow its on the green :D (I have acctually played that shot) ...15 ft nice straight put for a 2

I'll take this one !
Whip out my tm ghost spider, and do a camillo Villegas break read :D
It's pretty much straight , and I'm gonna be agressive. Hit it firm, and looks like it gonna go in!... But lips out, left with a 3 foot uphill putt for par

About time BobMac stepped up to the plate and see if he can walk the walk after flogging his water diviner or whatever it is masquerading as a putting tool

OK he's obviously not going to and I'm getting bored standing around - I'll take it.

Straight, uphill, aim dead centre and give it enough. Nice easy par.

On to the 7th.
Another par 5 of 522 Yards. Fairway bunker at 200 carry - doesn't usually bother me - clag left and right.
Slight dog-leg right with another bunker 60 yards short of the green that slopes diagonally backleft to front right.

Ok.
Big Dog is unleashed.
Tee it up.
Breathe.
And it's away - a little right and missing the fairway but waaaay over the bunker and just in the first cut. Sitting nicely but there's 2 small trees about 100 yards ahead followed by a small copse beyond that and further right.
Fragger's SC measured 274 yards all told and that leaves us around 240 to the front, 249 to the pin which is tucked behind a mound. Hit the downslope of this and we'll be out the back..

OK i'll take this one, maybe get quite close with a well struck 3W.

Oh dear that wasnt the best connection a thin that goes crashing into one of the small trees. Wanted to see where it went before I struck it.

The ball comes to rest almost completely behind the tree on the right. The green is not going to be possible unless perhaps someone can hook the ball around it. 151 yds to go.

Bol***ks! sorry guys.

I'll take this on, I'll take a 5 iron back in the stance to keep it low, club face at target, aim slightly right and swing along the line of the stance. Damn, thinned it slightly but its coming round towards the green, its on the green but still running through the back coming to rest against the rough at the edge of the fringe. 30 footer downhill with a slight left to right break by the looks of it.

My sort of chip this one, it is slightly left to right but because it's up against the rough I'm out with the hybrid. I go down on the grip a little and from there it's just a putting stroke. I know the ball will come out quite hot so I don't need to give it to much, just get it on the green and let the slope do the rest.

It comes out well maybe a little pacy but right at the hole, raps into the flagstick, pops up into the air and drops in for an unlikely birdie. On to hole 8, the shortest hole on the course. A par 3 with bunkers protecting the left and right front.

The wind is off the left and hurting and we've got 147 to the back right pin which is over the right bunker. You'll have a downhill putt if you're short or long.

I take dead aim with a 7i and it's a peach, pitching just short of the pin but kicking off the slope resting about 15 feet past the pin, just on the green but the putt is a quick one. Downhill and slightly left to right. Anything too hard and it's a 4 footer back for par... Back to back birdies anyone?

Sweeet shot Hawkeye. I would take the putt but I'm not very confident with the flat stick at the moment. Its a half decent birdie chance and can see someone on here slotting that one home.

a) why can't you do it for real on that hole
b) are we in a virtual 2's sweep?

Got to keep this going so I'll take this on. Slip the silver cover off my Scotty and walk up to the ball. Mark it with my lucky Irish 10p with the harp upper most. Wipe the ball in my hands, quick rub on my shirt and replace with the alignment marks just pointing to the left.

15ft downhill slightly left to right. Looks about a foot to the left but want to have a look at this from the side as well as from behind. Slope isn't too bad but mustn't be too aggressive with this.

Ok back behind the ball. Happy with my initial read. Maybe just a bit less than a foot of borrow. Check ball alignment. Pick up marker. Standing to the side now. Couple of practice strokes. No need to force this, just start it off and let it run. Over the ball now, keep the grip soft, look at the hole, back to the ball. Hole, ball, hole. See it falling in dead weight. Eye back on ball, easy back and ... nice contact. Rolling well, looks a good pace. Beginning to come in but have I hit it hard enough? Ahh just turns a fraction too much about a foot out as it runs out of pace and slides across the hole just past the right edge coming to rest about 2 inches away. Sorry guys.
