2011/12 Virtual Round

After tremendous delay while fourball muddles through, I astound myself by getting the ball out of the bunker, even if it is thinned into the face and only just pops over the lip onto the fringe.

Don't worry, the captains come back to say what a pillock he's made of himself and insists you take a captains mulligan so you hit a lovely sw out 20 yds with no additional stroke, unfortunately it lands in a trolley wheel mark, one of your partners wrongly informs you that it's a free drop, you do that then the other player calls the infringement and it's a 2 stroke penalty, yer lucks back:smirk:

So unless we get a lick on we're not beating last years score. Come on guys I thought you could play this game. How many we had on this hole so far. Lost track

I think thats 6 so far and we're 25ft away and just off the green. Nothing much to negotiate here and with plenty of green to work with I take my 6I and use it just like a putter. Its a clean hit thankfully and the pace is pretty good. Bounces twice and runs out to within a ft of the hole.

A simple tap in for someone?

Smiffy, don't you dare, you'll miss. Let Tiger hole it, he's on a roll right now.
I lost count of the score so I asked Elliot Saltman whos marking the card and he said it was a 3 :)

Which hole are we on and whose turn is it? Sorry I got into a coversation with Homer while you lot were faffing about on the green. He was showing me his new bats. Nice.

I'll tap this in then, to keep our group moving, there's a group in the fair way, and a group on the tee box already!

I'm not bothering to mark this, or clean the ball off, it's unmissable.

Stand over it, and a gentle stroke seems to have pulled it left of the hole, thankfully it's caught enough of the lip and rolls in by the back door. Let's get that flag in and move on fella's!

Our 4th is 421 yard par 4, with bunkers at the 220-240 mark on the right, and 250-270 on the left side of the fairway.

I'm not mentioning the out of bounds that runs all the way alongside the right hand side, it's not even in play. Don't slice it.

A smooth, deliberate backswing, no slice coming here at all.

Crap. Pulled it. It's flown well, but straight into the bunker on the left.

Next shot is a 155 yarder from the sand, to a long narrow green that slopes front to back. Pin is at the front. Bunkers run down the left and right hand side of the green, only thick heavy grass out the back if you go long. From the ball, the line at the flag you go over the bunker on the left, and the bunker on the right if you go long.

Apologies to whoever's next.... best of luck!

I climb into the bunker and assess the situation. Ball is sitting cleanly, 155 to go. Initially think about deliberately "thinning" my 7 iron but then decide to hit a 6. Take my stance, don't dig down into the sand too much as I don't want to take it fat, keep my bottom half quiet.
Nice easy take away, acellerate through the ball, didn't even feel it leave the club. Look up and it soars majestically towards the pin, pitches about 3 yards past and then on it's second hop spins back about 2 yards to leave a nice 3 footer.
Just like the old days

Never played virtual golf so I will start with the easy straight put.... nice straight backwards swing and ......so easy.....oh sh^t .....sorry lads slight pull dont know how I missed it think I will back out now :o

Ok I'll tap that in and take you to our 5th.

439 par 4 with OOB down the right and a large fairway bunker at about 280. Not a factor this time of the year (for me anyway).

Green is fairly flat and sligtly elevated with a pot bunker guarding the left front and some banking to the right. bushes behind the green but few peopel go long here unless the course is rock hard.

I usually drive well on this hole and today is no exception. Aim left and get nice flight with a touch of fade to bring the ball back into the middle of the fairway leaving about 190 to the pin.which is back right.
