your greatest ever shot?

As a junior : a 3I to 2' on the par 5 5th at Coulsdon Court for my best ever chance at a genuine eagle - I missed the putt ( I eventually got an eagle last year, but only by sinking a 5I from 150 in a gale )

As an adult : an 8I to 2" with my 3rd shot on the par 4 15th at Coulsdon in a grudge match for serious money ( £5  ) with a mate. I got the tap in par, he was on the back fringe in 2, duffed his chip, and two putted for 5. He collapsed after that :D

I doubt if that shot would have beaten the wood you hit on the 16th at Chartham Park over the lake after taking a drop, or had you forgotten?

Think one of the best ever shots I've played was a bunker shot on the 18th at Highwoods last year.
Driveable par 4 (for the big boys) with a sandtrap about 50-60 yards short of the green to the right to make it a little more tricky for anybody "going for it".
I had driven my ball into the bunker and it was sitting nicely in the sand. I initially pulled out my sand iron but then put it away and went with my pitching wedge. I caught the ball perfectly...the minute I played the shot I knew it was a good one. It landed just short of the green, exactly where I had intended it and rolled slowly down to the hole to finish an inch or two away for a "gimme" birdie.
Was well chuffed

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Holing a full 3iron from 220yds for eagle on the 18th at Walton Heath to beat PING by one hole, it didn't even bounce!

<rolls over and goes back to sleep>.......

Hitting an identical shot for my eagle on the same hole in the same match...only mine was from 160 yards

;)

I don't remember hitting a wedge off the tee in my dream, guess I must've :D

Nothing I saw on Tele last night would have beaten THAT shot.

For me it has to be a shot from the bunker at the rear of the 18th green par 5 at South Leeds GC about 18 years ago. I needed an up and down for par, downhill from the bunker all the way to a pretty fast green for a 5 to par the course and score a 69.I did it, knees were knocking on that shot. :D :D

I hit around 2200 competitive shots a season, so maybe 11,000 shots in the last 5 seasons. Trying to remember one outstanding shot is not do-able unless there was a hole in one. Alas there hasn't been one.
Every round yields one or two excellent shots.

I've been lucky enough to have had two holes in one, so I would have to say them. The nice thing is that I hit both out of the screws - I would feel a bit of a fraud if I ever slapped one in for an ace!

I have probably hit equally good shots elsewhere, but for the obvious reasons these two stick in my memory!

do you think if we put all these shots together we'd break 60? the magic 59??

More like 49 or less!

I've eagled all the par5's at my course and had a hole in one on another course.... so that's 10 under. I'm sure there would be a couple of eagled par4's by other members, 14 under.... and birdies for all the rest... if not more holes in one... so at LEAST 25 under par.. 47! :D

I was stood on the first tee at a course I'd never played before in a golf day. We were off first and there was a really good crowd watching. I hadn't been playing long and was bricking it so I thought I'd play safe and hit a 3 wood. I absolutely drilled this thing, it rolled up between the two greenside bunkers and finished about 4 foot from the stick - 330 yards away.

I was able to turn around, show that it was a 3 wood and say "Yeah, I thought a driver would be too much." to the crowd.

And then 3 putted. But only my playing parters could see that!
