Your best round ever

Last month i stood on the tee of the club champs moaning about how the bandits have it sewn up. Shot 2 under my handicap day one and 8 under my handicap day two.

I didn't stay for long after 😀

Played Worplesdon in Surrey last friday. Gorgeous autumn sunshine. I'm a 17 handicapper who hasn't been down there for a long time but amazed myself with 22 points on the front 9, 17 on the back. Gross 85 - the best round I've ever had in 25 years of trying. I'm so blown away, and I started with two 6s plus a 7 on the back. Used a new ball - Titleist velocity - instead of my usual softer Callaway. I have no idea if that made a difference but maybe I drained a few putts where I might have been short as per usual! Whatever happened, it doesn't matter, I'm so HAPPY! The beer and salty snacks at the 19th were so much sweeter!

There aren't many rounds that stick in my head. 75 gross being my lowest round, it was one of those days where things went right.

First round of club champs this year was impressive due to steady'ing the ship. Started 7,5,4,6 before reeling off 12 pars in a row before another bogey. Kinda settled the day a bit. Yet to have a truly memorable round

Not my lowest gross, but definitely my most memorable was shooting 76 around Royal Lytham & St Annes a few months after The Open was held there (flooded bunkers!). Only went in one bunker and still a bit gutted still to this day that I stupidly over clubbed on the last and took a double bogey. I took some photos and a video during the round which made it just that bit more memorable. :)

Had back to back 41 pointers (gross 79's) at Cooden one day. Not one blob over the 36 holes, despite driving OOB on our par 4 13th in the afternoon.
Felt like a dog with two dicks.
Followed this up 3 days later with 9 points on the front 9 and 13 on the back at Hankley Common.
:o:o:o

My best is probably the most memorable rather than lowest scoring

Played Ile Aux Cerf soon after getting here for a miserable 7 points! played it on my birthday with the wife accompanying me 18 months later to shoot 36 points and meant playing to handicap for the first time on the island

literally shaking after holing out on the last :D

My win at H4H at West Hill 2 years ago

It wasn't my best ever score as I did around level par at my place since with a hole in one thrown in in a winter league 4bbb match. The West Hill game was at a new course, pretty tough one and I believe I also got the lowest gross score off 10 h/c on the day. Also, to come away with the H4H trophy was just mind blowing as I'm sure yesterday's worthy winner will agree.

Well that's cheered me up no end slab, thinking I could get nine points on a course in November.😁
Hotels booked and it has a deal with Ile Aux Cerf so I will deffo be playing it twice. 😳

Cool, you'll have a blast

I played there three days ago for 38 points but it didn't beat the memory of 'the first time' against handicap

Without hijacking the thread they've done a fair bit of development in the last two years to make the course more playable and open up some fairways. The new 9th green opens in three weeks (its freakin huge now) so you'll be one of the first to try that out. The new (alternate) 18th green is still being built so you'll play to the current one that they'll keep for big comps (its a freakin crazy 2nd shot)
Greens were hollow tinned three weeks ago so should be in a1 for you. I'm back there in a couple of weeks for a society comp so I'll PM a couple of pics if I remember

-5 is technically the best but the round that feels the best was -1 at Royal Cromer in county champs a few years ago in a rain-soaked hoolie. If only I hadn't played like a turnip in the first round...

I have 3 very different standout rounds/days.

My 1st was at Blackmoor in 2012, it was my first GM meet, I didn't know anyone, I'd never played a Heathland course before, I drove the 2.5hrs down that morning starting out at 5.30am, I'd only been playing for just under 12 months and I only went and won it, what a great day all round.

My 2nd was at my previous Kenilworth club, shot my first sub 80 off the back stones, level gross 35 out with 4 birdies on the front, 3 of them back-to-back to record a gross 79.

My 3rd was just on Saturday, although the end result was not what I wanted with a Net 75 I did shoot a 4 over gross on the front 9 in my Medal amassing 24 points for handicap purposes so had a little cut anyway, so I know the game is in there, I just need to coax it out a bit more over 18 holes with some practice.

I was looking forward to this season as I knew the form was there, unfortunately losing nearly 4mths to injury from April to August killed my season, so, 2016 is (will be) #YOTF

86 Gross for me and could have been a lot less. only 1birdy but missed loads of birdy putts and had a raft of Par's. Finally thought I have turned a corner playing well under my 22 handicap at the time!

However I came down to earth with a bang the following day with a 97 lol!

85 gross. Had 2.19 putts per hole though, so should have been MUCH better. Four times I hit a Green in Reg and 3 putted, none of them from too far out either. Should have shot 80 or lower really, was hitting the ball great. Hence why I'm dedicating time over winter to improve my putting!

Lowest with a card in my hand was 78 (good few years ago) in our annual three club comp - 5 wood, 8 iron and putter. I was off 21 at the time so nett 57 - second lowest score ever in the comp and I lost to the lowest ever by a shot - nobody has had a sub 60 nett round before or since.

Not the best I've ever played though - that came when I beat someone 7 and 6 in a match - he said to me when we shook hands "You can't walk in - might never play this well again" - I shot gross 73 though I don't really count it as he'd obviously conceded some putts before the match was settled.

Not been near since over 18 holes though I've shot 35 for nine holes a few times since.

Have you got one stand-out round that is head and shoulders above the rest?

I had mine on Saturday on a golf society outing to Rufford Park in Nottinghamshire. I play off 22 and have been shooting in the 90s all year - just plodding along with stableford scores in the high 20s and occasionally low 30s. Then, for no apparent reason, I had an 84 on Saturday and scored 44 points : 6 pars, 10 bogies and just 2 doubles. Second place was 36 points so I walked it (cue much bandit name-calling)!

I wasn't doing anything differently, but everything just seemed a bit easier than normal. Any tips for how to make this happen again... and again... and again!!

Shep

Theres only one round that really stands out for me the best round I ever did, Par 67 course 5200 yards small slopey greens a decent test for a shorter course, I parred the course for the 1st time in 6 years
