Started at 6.3, currently 4.8. Got down to 4 and was even threatening 3. but alas, caught the shanks and destroyed my game for 2-3 months. Still a few qualifiers left and Im starting to play well again. So if I can get down to 4 I'll be happy for the winter.
Still got the medals final at my home club and the east of Scotland championship next weekend but after that it's all over.
Handicap down from 3.2 to 2.8. That's been a roller coaster and would have been nice to get down to 2 but, annoyingly, I've improved every part of my game except driver and woods which have gone massively backwards.
I won one medal at my home club and the scratch trophy at the open at my away club.
I also won the ladies championship at my home club and the county champion of champions competition.
I played in the county team that won the east division championship. I only played twice but won both times. And I was also in the team that then went on to the Scottish county finals. We didn't do great but I won 4/5 of my matches and played some nice stuff.
If I could still hit a driver I'd be dangerous, lol!
Ticked off some good courses too including Troon, trump, Birkdale and Loch Lomond
Started the year on 5.5, and finished the year on 5.6 with a brief visit back to 5.4. Changed home clubs twice, and I'm settled at Murcar.
A (bizarre) dislocated wrist at Carnoustie at the beginning of May meant 8 weeks off, the return coinciding with the move to Murcar. And it still hurts like hell after a round.
Long game, probably more accurate than it's ever been. Iron play has been very average but, thankfully my putting continues to be better than good.
Poor year really.... Hit some great form over the Winter, so at 10.1, I was gunning for single figures. No time to practice or play much saw a run of 0.1's and a + 0.5 Handicap adjustment for being utter tosh.... Cue a 0.4 cut down to 10.8 and now back up to 11, so going to finish the season there.
Enjoyed my golf and am not going to beat myself up about it anymore. I can't play or practice as much as I'd like, so I'm just going to enjoy being a Chomper
Can't wait for hfh....
Well the summary of my year is that I think I no longer qualify as a golfer. I've played a total of 27 holes of golf this year - one full round helping out a mate who was short one for a 4 ball and 9 holes with my son on the local Par 3 course. And this despite the fact I've just taken 10 weeks off work over the summer. Just had no motivation to go out and play. Both my boys have got interested in fishing this year and I've got back into it. When there has been a choice of going to play golf or go fishing the fishing has won every time. Although that might be about to change as my 7 year old is watching the Ryder Cup with me and now wants to go and play golf again so might get another 18 holes in before the end of the year.
Pants, been injured for most of the season.
Played in 3 medals all year and had very little social golf, when I have managed a game I've been playing quite well with an 80 round Carnoustie as my highlight this year.
Then just when it seems I'm over the worst of it, I go and injure my shoulder whilst on holiday, I have only played one Texas scramble round in the last 12 weeks but going to try the wee course tomorrow so here's hoping.
Average with some major rubbish and the odd moment of great golf.
At least I've come down a shot and probably should have been more was it not for the regular disaster hole or two per round.
Hcp-wise, garbage. 1.2 to 2.1 but have learnt lots and feel well positioned to play better golf. Played some top courses though and had some great laughs so happy enough.
Pretty mediocre for the most part. Then had a 3 week spell, got down to 6.0 and we won the summer betterball knockout. So overall not too shabby 😬
Final qualifier still to come tomorrow but another poor season.
Started on 9.9, currently on 10.8, 13 x 0.1s, three buffers and one cut of 0.4
Most fun has been building up my set of old clubs and using these on the course, I like to think they've improved my ball striking to a degree but that's probably wishful thinking.
Started off the season slowly, then got new irons which aided consistently considerably and was in buffer for 5 medals in a row. Got some new wedges which has helped my short game and came runner-up in the Autumn meeting to with a nett 67 and finished the season on 11.2, my lowest ever so overall a good year but still room for improvement.
Bad ankle sprain in May (still suffering)+Kids = a pile of *****.
Had one decent round, my work outing, where I shot a tidy +3 in tough conditions. Otherwise the season has been reduced to a couple of months struggling to break 90 let alone 80 or 70. Might just give it up.
Inconsistent. Lots of .1's then a few very low rounds. Started the year on 6.3 and target was to get into the 4's. Currently 4.8 and played to that yesterday with 2 blobs in the last 4 holes so another cut was there to be had.
Short game and putting is very strong at the moment, irons are always pretty strong. Just need to find fairways off the tee. I carry driver and a mini but seriously considering just sticking to a mini.
Next year I would love to get down to 3 but realise that's a big jump.
First full year of playing. Feel like I have improved a lot over the course of the year, but my scoring doesn't really reflect that. Still trying to break 100. Am just far too inconsistent.
have really enjoyed it tho, and have definitely got the bug. Just wish I'd taken the game up 20-30 years ago.
