Would England win the premier league?

Easily top 4.

Hodgson's England wouldn't lose too many games.

The thing is the EPL teams would be weaker without their England players ie Man U without Rooney, Chelsea without Cahill, Arsenal without Wilshere, Walcott, Ox, City without Hart, etc

All easily replaceable with better players from the continent

Which team do you think would miss out ?

The top teams losing their England players doesn't weaken the top teams by much of anything

If I had to pick one I guess it would be Man U. Taking Rooney out of the side would weaken them more.

Although I watched Barca against United last night and they looked really quite good.

And Man Utd would just replace him with another striker - I don't think there is one England player that is irreplaceable for their team - at a push maybe Terry for Chelsea but even then they have a number of CB's at the team and he isn't a current international.

Having seen the transfers this summer. I'm not sure it's as simple as that though. Utd lose Rooney. Who do they buy (just like that). Falcao was one of best strikers in Europe. How did that work out? England aren't world class. Arguably our players aren't either. And in European games be that intl or cl we fall short. But in the prem. lots of English players are still key parts. Irreplaceable maybe not. But the replacements would be neither cheap nor guaranteed successes.

Agree, not one current England player are the best in their position & could be replaced.
Last we had was Ashley Cole.

Still think England's best would do very well in the Prem albeit they would be up against other internationals.

Terry won't play for England so excluded him.

Besides Woy is a top coach and has England well organized now. Certainly only the top 5 clubs would pose a threat I would say.

Well they have just spent £30mil on Depay who will prob score just as many if not more than Rooney

There is a lot of players abroad that would come in and do just as good if not better than most of the English players in the Top 6-8 teams.

Most of the English players in those teams maybe? Most of the English lakers that are current in

I agree but think the top four (for arguments sake but not solely Arsenal, City, United and Chelsea) would be a handful for England. My biggest concern would be if England tried to play their patient passing game, fine on an international stage where you have the time, in this kind of scenario. The pace is much quicker in the PL and think Hodgson would find it hard to apapt

If Rooney is played as a striker this season I'd be very surprised if anyone at Utd scores as many as him. Love him or hate him. The shift he puts in often means that he's not picked solely on goals. But someone who's likely to be Utds and England top scorer if all time is imo not the first place if start when thinking of English players not fit for top four clubs.

The financial side is a fair point though. I mean English layers are generally over priced when young. But generally players that are regulars for England have performed for years in the prem.
And here for compliment their teams.

Obviously we disagree on how good we feel the English players are. But, take the general starting 11 out of their respective clubs and how much would need to be spend to replace them with proven players.

Chelsea are considering stones and that's £30m. If Depay is roomeys replacement. That's 30m. If these players are so expensive for clubs to fill, how would they finish mid table?

I think it would go completely the other way. All of a sudden or players playing their way. The way they've played for years. To say Roy couldn't adapt is harsh imo. I mean, it's he who's at least tried to change our players to play a more continental way as our gun how methods weren't working.

A Cost of a player doesnt automatically justify the ability

Stones is looking to replace Terry hence the price tag ( plus english tax )

Depay isnt Rooneys replacement - RvP maybe

A lot of the top clubs prob already have good enough cover without the English players without the need to spend

I wouldn't consider Depay a replacement. Simply going by you saying if Rooney left Depay would replace if not improve in his goals return.

As to squads having good enough cover.
I think I'll repeat your comments earlier of us agreeing to disagree as i can't see that. Not at all.
