Richard Scudamore asked the question in a press conference the other day, I thought it was an interesting question, especially as it raises other questions like , if you think they are not good enough where would they finish , and is any current international side good enough to challenge for the premier league.

What do you think?

Don't think they are good enough to win the premiership

Around mid table - 8th -12th

Win the league, probably not. But champs league possibly.

most of the players play for teams that are in the cl or clubs that aspire to be there. So I think mid table would be failure for them. But this is England we're talking about. So maybe that's about right.

Not a chance.
Chelsea,City,Arsenal & Utd have much better squads.

They'd probably be closer to Spurs & Liverpool.

Really? Imo our gk, lb, rub, one cb can all play for cl teams.
And then our midfield all play for top 6 as well as out strikers. Not sure why people they'd fail so much?

How many really are the top players in their team ?

Rooney at a push

Add in the manager and their recent results when faced with opposition a bit more stiffer.

The England team would be mid table just as they are as an international team

Teams like Germany or Spain which are full of world class talent would seriously challenge for the title.

Nice little dig at hodgson there. Well done lol.

Ok. Some people have said they're gonna finish like 10th on the league. There are palace fans on here I believe. Hopefully one of them can come on and tell us if they'd swap any players.

Saints finished 7th last season. And with the players we currently have. If I was picking a starting line up I'd go.

Hart, bertrand, fonte, cahill, clyne, wanyama, carrick, wilshere, sterling, Walcott and Rooney. With Forster, jagielka, baines, Jones, lallana, kane and classie as the bench.

so imo, the England squad would improve us massively. So maybe top for is over ambitious. But I'd say most England players could walk onto most teams below fourth.

Manager is quite important to the success of the team surely and he is one of the reasons why England wouldn't be more than mid table 8th-12th

Just reading through that list of players you mention and not one world class player with Rooney the best of them

The English players just aren't good enough and along with safe not loosing tactics will have them mid table

In all honesty I reckon they'd be nearer the bottom of the league. One of the poorest teams you've had in a good few years imo.

ive not argued that England have a squad full of world class players. Simply that the players are better than that at clubs such as palace, Everton or saints.

Even an the likes of Spurs and Liverpool regular Europa league teams. How many world class players have they got? And their managers have won just as little as
Hodgson.

Looking at at it the other way, say we use Spurs. How many of their typical starting lineup would get into and England squad if nationality didn't matter.

Lloris maybe, but it would be a toss up.
Rose, nope.
Anderweld, yes,
vertonghen, nope,
walker, nope.
Eriksen, possibly, but rotated.
Chadli, nope,
mason, nope,
lamela, nope,
kane, out wide maybe, but Rooney would start up top,
adebayor, nope,
soldado, nope.

Slightly off topic, but if the Prem had an all stars match. London and South, then north of that. Who'd you go with. Players and managers. And who'd win?

I would actually say that both Everton and Spurs would beat England and indeed Soton and Palace would give them a good game as well

But will agree to disagree

Easily top 4.

Hodgson's England wouldn't lose too many games.

The thing is the EPL teams would be weaker without their England players ie Man U without Rooney, Chelsea without Cahill, Arsenal without Wilshere, Walcott, Ox, City without Hart, etc
