Worst golf shot you ever hit

My worst shot was on the 5th tee at Selbourne where after 9 years of practice coming down to a decent handicap of 13

MISSED THE BALL COMPLETELY

with a 3i off the tee

You can't beat a committed and full practice swing..... :p

Too many to think of over the years but the round at Maidenhead where it was 18 holes of tops slices and shanks will live in my nightmares for a long time. If it hadn't been a match I'd have walked off

I've hit some horrors over the years but I think the most embarrassing was off the 1st on the Old Course.
I was shitting myself. Never been so nervous in my life and managed to put it in the Valley of Sin off the tee.
I then took the biggest divot I have ever (ever) taken in my attempt to get it back onto the fairway.
Luckily it was early in the year, and fairly early in the morning so there wasn't too many people around to witness it other than the starter and the 6 mates I was with.
And anybody who happened to be looking out of the clubhouse windows.... :o :o :o :o :o

My geography's not that great but isn't the Valley of Sin 90 degrees straight left from the 1st tee?

Too many to want to remember.

Worse I've hit. Probably doesn't count as I didn't actually hit the thing.

Bunker shot about 4 weeks ago. Flat lie, sitting nicely, flat stance.

Took my stance, couple of practice back swings, swung through, felt good, felt like I got the right amount of sand.

Looked up as I followed through to a nice balanced finish expecting to see the ball flopping up in the air. But no. :o

Look down, ball still exactly where it started. The divot\sand I took was probably 3-4 inches inside of where the ball was. To this day I have no idea how I missed it by that much. :D

Not quite 90 degrees but not far off it.
Try coming over the top and hitting the poxy ball off the heel of the club.
Get the picture?????
:o :o :o :o :o

I'm trying not to if I'm honest!

But hey, it's not a shank!

Picture the scene. It's an overcast September afternoon at the Ashbury golf hotel. It's been raining solidly for weeks and it's a miracle the course is open at all. There's 31 rowdy golfers standing by the 1st tee waiting for the 1st shot of the weekend to be hit - by me. I take a couple of practice swings, settle over the ball, take a deep breath, swing the club and plug the ball into the ground about 4 inches in front of the tee. To make things worse, I look down the fairway to see where it went. The worst and most embarrassing shot I have or will ever hit all rolled into one. :o

Knocked it oob on the road 1st hole at Machrihanish last year and this fairway is wider than the 1st at St Andrews :).

Or one i didn't hit 1st tee at Torequbrada in Benelmadena, 2 hours kip put out first the ranger watching big swoosh and it was still there fresh air shot haha que 20 odd guys from my local peeing themselves laughing and the ranger asking me my handicap, hit an absolute screamer the next swing :D :D :D

Last year on the 3rd tee at my place i toe shanked my 5 wood into the hedge running down the side of the hole :o. On the same tee this year i chunked a 3 iron and the divot pushed the ball off the tee.... even i was in stitches

Fatted one 10feet off the 1st tee in front of 40 fellow GM forumers at the Blackmoor meet.... no wait!... that's next year!

Didn't you 'lay up' on the first at Ascot, or was that someone else :D

I topped one last week which I hadn't done for ages. 2nd shot into a par 5 (which is reachable off the yellows) with a hybrid.
Feeling confident because I'd been on in 2 the previous 2 weeks.

Hit the top of the ball with the bottom of the club, and to make matters worse it ran into a ditch across the fairway.

Can't think of a worse one ever, I think I must block them out.

Don’t know if it’s my worst shot but my shank into the group of trees short of the ninth at Goswick a few weeks back is still fresh in my mind. Not so much for the shank, but not one person saw me thread the ball from one end of the trees to the other. I had a gap of about 4 feet through about ten trees and was waiting to get hit squarely in the nuts.

So that'll be 270 degrees then!
