I thought the idea had already been tried and the end result was the World Golf Championships.

Some of the tounaments were dropped because so many of the top players did not want to play in them (notably the Australian events).

Some of the tounaments were dropped because so many of the top players did not want to play in them (notably the Australian events).

Originally there were 3 WGC events from 1999 onwards.

Subsequently the Tournament of Champions was added.

I am not aware of any events being dropped although venues have changed.
