Ryder Cup 2025 - only for highly skilled golfers this time

Sergio confirming that he's had conversations with Luke Donald and that the Captain is monitoring his performances. A good showing at Augusta and he'll be very much in the frame.
Will Sergio be in the other three majors though ? I think it would take two top 10 major performances to be able to stake a claim. Even then, it would mean overlooking the claims of PGAT winner which even Sergio wouldnt deny outrank anything he does on LIV. Mickelson didnt help his case by finishing high up, which does undermine any serious competition claims for such wins.

Will have to wait & see on the opens but they are offering spots based on the standings.

As of now I don't think he'll be in the team. But I do think from June to October last year he was playing well enough to be in the conversation. If he does so again this year..
Of course no idea what is in Luke's thoughts. But captains often look to experience for the away fixture.

If Garcia continues his form, and is eligible, he'll have every chance - thought you'd agree with your "highly skilled golfers of this time" title..

Look at his record, it speaks for itself - and in the environment of Bethpage his experience would definitely come into the selection process. If you think Rose is worthy, Garcia definitely is. (y)
If you want some greens damaged he’s your man.

The Ryder Cup Team are filling their boots on the PGA Tour this season!😁
Yes, Europe kickin ass on the PGAT so far this year.
One couldnt leave Hatton or Rahm out I dont think, but in a way, the Europeans winning so much put a lot of guys forward for inclusion. Hard to see the likes of Noren or Rose, let alone the old guard on LIV being worth a punt. Or even reckless to include them when it is only that past, rather than current form putting them supposedly 8n the conversation at all.

I don’t think the team will be too different from last time. They seemed a pretty tight unit and all of the players seem to be hitting form.

Stephan Jaeger folks. Stephan Jaeger.
Another interesting option trending up. There is such a bunch of men pushing in the right direction, that there may be no room/need this year for heros from past like Rose or what we might have considered a major winner and so in, like Fitz.

Given the names you've suggested, right now I would take Rose over Fitz. It's the "grind" factor, carborundum.

Most certainly. Its more the numbers of newer names who are making solid claims for inclusion that I could see both of them superfluous. Its not that Europe will be thin on experience anyway and so wont need to bias for prior experience. Rory, Rahm, Fleet, Hatton, Lowry, Hovland bring that, and Aberg, Bob, Sepp are not newbies either. Europe has a strong looking panel, so while in the past, experience usually swung it against lesser achievers, this time I could see current form and PGAT wins counting for more than simply having played RC before.

Would need to be a member of the European Tour and play enough qualifying events

However, along with not actually playing the European Tour, he is a long way down the European Ryder Cup point list, despite having the benefit of playing for bumper points on the PGA Tour, and hasn't had a top-10 in a decent field for over a year, so not not sure why anyone would be hyping him for Bethpage.
