..with x blobs (why?)

Indeed. But all 10 of those shots are already included in the score

In B) only 6 or 7 or so are included (however many to make nett double bogey)

Badly phrased... I meant the 10 would have a full impact on the medal score, but only a partial impact on the stableford score

So, to me, a medal -4 including a 10 is slightly more 'impressive' than a stableford 40 points with a 10. Both would be impressive though ;)

If you are scoring a 10 in a stableford comp, you have missed the point of stableford. Unless you have a par 7, on which you get two shots.

'... who would've scored 10' then ;) :ears:

And unfortunately there's some who don't pick up when they 'should' (another minor irritation!)

Some of my pals have this habit... they'll often qualify their scores by saying how many blobs were included (as if that's a good thing)

This seems quite common on here too

But why?

To my way of thinking the fact there's blobs is bad not good :(

I suppose it's another way of saying they played well for a lot of the holes and if not for those mistakes they'd have done well

But to my way of thinking it probably means the medal (proper golf 🎣) scores would be worse (maybe considerably so), had kind old Mr Stableford not let them off the hook ;)

Is it just me?

Maybe this should be in the minor irritations thread but I'll just leave it here for discussion...⛳

Dr Stableford please.

Thank you sir, I shall correct it if possible out of respect for the good Dr 👍

Hey at least I didn't call him Stapleford like half the seniors I know do ;)

It always astounds me that such minor things can raise a scratch let alone an irritation in anyone. Its one of the most common said things post round. I'm glad it does not irritate me, otherwise I would be permanently irked

I've stopped reading this thread at this post - at last common sense. Who actually gives a sheet?

It is a discussion forum
Things are discussed
14 pages so some healthy discussion

You are obviously irked yourself by this thread, enough for you to post

Which in itself is a bit daft don't you think if you don't 'give a sheet'

I actually had a 2 week long argument with a fellow committee member when he suggested that person x should be cut because he was “constantly coming in with 34-36 points with 2 blobs” - “Why should he be cut he’s not beating his handicap?” - “Well he is for 16holes” - “A round of golf is 18 holes”

In the end it turned out that he’d been drawn against person x in a knockout comp!

The truth always comes out! Great story.
