I bought a Hackmotion Sensor on Ebay a couple of weeks back. It shows that I'm pretty good at address, and at the top of my swing but I'm flipping at the bottom of my swing, so I need to learn how to stop this at the range during the winter

Did you pick one up “cheap” or have you paid full whack?

Would be interested to hear how you get on with it.

Beat me to it mate… I’ve just gone down a youtube rabbit hole looking at them. Be interested to know how you found it @chrisd.

Definitely a pricey bit of kit for what it is.

I bought the original version and it cost £200 including postage on Ebay. but was cheaper than I'd seen before. I've only used it a couple of times yet at the range as I have had covid and wasn't wanting to go to the range so much. No doubt it works well and immediately pinpointed the slight flip at impact which is never had felt without it. I've used it indoors without hitting balls by repeatedly working on the position at set up, which was always ok with a fair amount of forward shaft lean, then to the top which was pretty good tooso just got to improve at the bottom.

Just to say though, it's easy to set up, it recorded every swing on the app and I'm sure it'll be useful during the winter to improve my swing. The app also has lots of tips and advice, I'm sure that the new version has a lot more info but the original version will do me.

Spent about 45mins yesterday doing a bit of chipping practice, focussing on keeping weight on left side and rotating around left leg. It was a good session, never done it before, but really saw the benefit and determined that It’d be worth repeating regularly over winter. However…yesterday evening the left knee grew painful and overnight very painful..disturbing my sleep quite badly, and this morning really stiff and painful.

Ah well. Too much twisting around left side, twisting left knee…and age. Add to that I’ve felt my left knee never fully recovered from a wrenching I gave it nearly 50yrs ago when skiing at Aviemore, it wasn’t bad enough at the time to see my GP though I did go for a consultation about it sometime in the mid-90s but nothing to really worry about - certainly nothing worth doing.

However…I’m going to have to watch what I do practice wise this winter, and avoid too much repetition in any session, so as to not put too much stress on left knee.

I'm thinking of really concentrating on the chipping/pitching this winter as well. I feel like it's got a lot better this season thanks to watching Dan Grieve's videos, so stumped up the cash and have got his book.
Our greens lose their roll and get bobbly once they get wet (thankyou, clay), so there's probably more to be gained from this part of "around the green" than putting.
As for knees, mine are also a bit wonky so I keep the left foot quite flared out to mitigate this and to allow me to keep turning through the shot.

Did something I don’t think I’ve ever done today and had a gapping session. Mainly driven by wanting to know how far I hit my wedges so I can then figure out distances with 3/4 1/2 swings etc, but carried on up through the bag to 8 iron.

56 degree carried 89 yards
52 degree carried 104
48 degree carried 112
44 degree PW carried 118
9 iron carried 134
8 iron carried 147

Above was taken as an average from 10 shots. I only deleted a shot if it was very bad

This session helped me so much out in the course today, especially on the wedges. A few times I have 90 to the middle and I had the confidence to just hit a full 56.

Definitely recommend a gapping session for anyone who hasn’t done one.

Few days away with the family so first bit of practice since Friday.

Started with 30 minutes on the practice range whilst the lad had his lesson and after a little warm up I was really pleased with the strike. I went purely with feel (normally have the swing app recording so I can get instant feedback)

When I got back I jumped in the sim room for about 45 mins checking out my new Hackmotion. First impressions are I really need to try it out tomorrow. It seemed like I was regularly only +1 - +4 degrees out of range at the top and it wasn’t impacting where the ball was going. Today though seemed like a very good ball striking day so it will probably be more beneficial when its not going well as I hope it will help diagnose why?

More of the same tomorrow 👍🏼

Just going out and hitting a few balls and using the R10 to help me or make it a little more useful into the net.
Did notice something interesting about club path and how it can vary between brands .. I was out to in with my MP 8 iron, in to out with the G430&i15 irons .. so will check the swing weights and then proceed to completely distract myself by adding lead tape to the MP iron to see if I can change the path..
But main focus should be on ball position and weight transfer..

Whisper it softly, but I finally made a little bit of progress with driver at the range this lunchtime. Simple, but I just shortened my backswing a little. I've been trying to get this nice, smooth tempo in all my shots, but I think with driver it might have been producing a bit of overswing, where it was coming across my left shoulder too much - then get out of shape on the way down, either over-the-top or my hands getting in front of the clubhead. Tried to feel like I just got my left shoulder under my chin on backswing and not over-hinge the wrists - a little bit slower and more deliberate I think as well - and I felt like I had much more control and hit it much straighter.

Of course this could all be in the bin on Saturday, but fingers crossed. When I used to hit a lot of fairways two or three years ago I did have a much shorter backswing, but having changed my swing completely early this year it has got long again.

Foursomes match this Saturday too, so I only need to hit four shots with driver - surely I've got four good drives in me?

I make a similar change once in a while, especially reducing the wrist hinge, and find I can hit fairways again.

The novelty soon wears off when I realise I’m hitting no further than my 5 wood which I can hit fairways with anyway 🙁

I don't think it will have that much of an impact, maybe take 5 or 10 yards off what I was hitting, but if it stops me carving it Oscar Bravo then I will take that all day. Just got a new driver that added length anyway so I'll just be back to normal. 😂
