Why don't Ping make golf balls?

I only ask as the other three big name golf only brands (Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist) make their own, why not Ping? I understand that they used to, so why did they stop?

And, on that subject. Do the above three actually make their balls, or are they manufactured by a specialist independent and then branded?

Cally bought spalding, who make top flite and molitor. It shows. Cally balls are rocks.

To be fair Cally have always made firmer balls. It just seems in the last 5 years they have become even firmer. Decent spin and distance but not much fun for chipping and putting. I remember the two tone Ping balls and had a few at one time. Always a talking point when you pegged one of those up on the 1st

I liked the diablo HX tour balls, got a dozen with my putter and felt really good around the greens

wouldnt pay 20 quid a dozen. Ping appear to be making great clubs at present so no need for them to go back to making balls, leave that to the others
