Why do you love golf?

The challenge and hopes my game improves and my scores are better

The fun of buying new gear when i think i need it

The excercise and fun being outside

The friendly banter at times .....

The expectations of playing next time as you come away from the course !

I love golf because it takes me to some fabulous courses and clubs. This enables me to get decent red wine at a good price to go with delicious carvery lunches and in addition, gives me the chance to flirt with pretty waitresses and bar staff who are usually happy to do so as they are normally surrounded by boring old duffers in mothball scented clothing or "men" who wear white belts and use moisturiser.

Golf also helps with my anger management issues. Launching clubs and swearing after less than perfect shots is a very cathartic experience for me. It invariably means I need less medication or wine that day.

I love the paradox that in my best game there are one or two shots which if only I had expecuted better... And yet in my worst nightmare there are one or two beauties.

Also I increasingly appreciate golf as a game for life as my two boys of 14 and unfortunately only 9 regularly kick my ass as I enjoyed doing to my late father of whom my fondest memories are playing golf together.

Similar to Scadge, your good rounds are always remembered by what could have been or if only... The bad rounds quickly forgotten apart from the great drive, putt, chip etc.

I love the mickey taking, the camaredrie or however it's spelt, the challenge, the search for that elusive next step where it all clicks into place again.

Hi grumps you followed the link I sent then, welcome friend.

There are a whole number of reasons to love the game but the one thing that underpins it all for me is pretty simple:

It's the feeling you get when you hit the ball out of the middle of the club.

It never gets old.

Couldn't put it better, such a satisfying feeling.
In addition the exercise, competition and banter but number 1 is above
