Why did you take up golf?

Got into it coz dad played. He only played for a year, mid 68/69, but I carried on. I fitted it around a multitude of sports, all to a very decent level. But as age, and an ever increasing waistline, got in the way I'm now left with golf and hang gliding.

Hey LP is back. And posting straight after Homer. It's like ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony, side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord why can't we???

I think Homey may have text Phil to let him know he was going to post, so they could time it to perfection.
I do that with my wife on facebook.

Had to give up football and needed to have something to look forward to at the weekend. So golf it was.....and I have loved it ever since😳

used to go with a friends dad over 50 years ago when we were 5 and 6,he would get a cut down putter and we would hit balls for hours under the watching eyes of the club pro,we would have a nap in the back of the pro shop, this was in the day when the pro called the members sir and could not go into the clubhouse unless invited to do so by the captain

After years of match fishing at the top level it became too expensive and time consuming, with the preparation required and travelling all over the country.

Taking up golf has allowed me to get out of the house, do some exercise and like fishing offers enough challenges and competitiveness to keep me coming back. It is just as frustrating as fishing however I can be up before the wife and kids, get 9 or 18 holes in and still spend most of the day with my family.

I still get the urge to fish however if I need a fix it's easy enough to get out for a few hours after work on the local reservoir fluff chucking.
