For me this week has been a turning point for Tiger as he's looked totally in control and very good all week and dare I say back to he's former best.I think you can safely say that Tiger will bag a major or majors this year so it begs the question which one or how many will he win? I suppose if he's in form at the moment he must be considered for Augusta and you can take your pick of the others with for me The Open being he's best next chance.I think the odds are seriously stacked in Tigers favour to break he's major drought this year.

I don't think you can "safely say" that anyone will win a Major, there's far too many variables.
You can't assume it in any Tournament..

That's not to say I don't think Tigger's got a chance - he has, he's playing exceptionally well and you could even make him Favourite for all 4.

Doesn't mean you can safely say he'll win any of them....3 months ago Rory was in line to do the Grand Slam, look at him now.
Form is fickle.

I don't think The Open is his best chance.
The Masters is an obvious one but the other 2 - why not.....

So he's had a good week and now he's a safe bet to win a major?

How many majors did he win last year after being in control of his game at Bay Hill and winning by 5 shots, in fact how did he do in the masters? I'll tell you, he was 40th.

One good week doesn't tell you how good a season is ahead.

Hear what your saying guys but I think with Tiger its been a case of building up to where he was before and he's game looks there and we know what happens when he plays to he's best standard.Nice to see but personally I still want to see Jacks major record intact but me thinks this is unlikely.Dont think he'll be totally dominant anymore thoses days have gone but he's got more majors in him.

For tiger to break Jacks record he has to win as many majors as Seve did in his whole career, I not only hope Jacks stays in tact, I don't think tiger will get close

Tiger at 37 I reckon will be still competitive for the next 10 years as great players seem to still play well into their late 40's so he would have a chance in 40 ish majors. To beat jacks record Tiger needs to win one in every 8,When he was dominant I would have said yes but other guys seem to be playing better nowdays so it wont be easy for him but if he plays like he has done this weekend(in a stella field i'll add) it would be bloody daft not to consider him for more majors......

To be fair, Tiger is already close. Only 4 to go to tie, I dont think its a matter of if, but when Tiger will beat the record.
I was thinking the same as the OP, his game is looking back to his best, but like people have said, it comes and goes, the next few tournaments will be an insight into how its going to go.
He'll be back to world number one by the Masters

I don't think you can safely say he will win one. What you can say is his current form is good enough to put him in contention but not categorically win one.

Though I would like to see him win a couple this year and beat Jacks record I think his best bet is the Masters and PGA.

He's not won this comp yet so lets not get carried away. I'm glad he's back to some sort of form and hope he wins this one. That will stop the haters chanting on about him winning comps full of nobodys... And to top it off I'd love to see him get at least 1 major this year and shut them up for good !!!

He has won comps with lesser fields but lets not forget he won the memorial last year which always has a strong field too.

You are right to say he hasn't won this yet but unless he has a major collapse (which he won't I'm sure) he'll win it.

Only 4, you say it like its easy. 4 majors is a lot.

I reckon he'll remain totally competitive till about 43 or so when fitness and his dodgy knee may be a bigger factor in his game than his golfing ability.

So you think Tiger will only be competitive for the next 6 years?,cant see it that..what I can see is the guy still pulling out of the bag and showing the younger guys as Jack did well into he's late 40's....

Jack won 5 times in the 80's, he was 40 in 1980 and his last win was the Masters at 46, I wouldn't consider that prolific or in the late 40's.

Time is not on Tigers side.

From 38 years old jack won 4 majors 78,80,80,86 he's last being at 46 yrs old.Tiger is 37 he needs 4 to tie 5 to beat Jack.
Its entirely possible that tiger could do it and his chances are better if he wins one this year.Like I said in an earlier post it will be interesting but personally I hope he doesent do it.Just further to this I think people forget Jack came second in majors an incredible 19 times!!.

Of course he could do it but at 4 years and counting since his last major time is ticking away.

I don't buy this argument that a major is definately coming and he's back to his best. Brandt Snedecker has started the season equally as good if not better and I don't see anyone posting that he's definately going to win a major this year.

Don't think you can ever say someone will definitely win a major but Tiger seems to be gradually returning to form. I'd say based on this week only he looks to have his best chance of a major for a few years. Certainly if he plays like this in each major he'll probably win at least one of them. However, it remains to be seen if he's found the consistency to keep this up. Can't see him not finishing the job tonight.

My guess is that he will win a major this year; probably the masters.

I think Woods, knee withstanding will play well to 50. He totally changed the fitness of this sport and will be in shape. As for his game improving, I think the key improvement is his short game, he's always had a wild driver but at Augusta last year he couldn't hit the greens accurately this year his irons seem dialed in, and his putter is on fire. I firmly believe that if he hits 90% of his pevel consistently then the field are in trouble. RORY at 100% would still be chasing shadows if the woods of old returns. And he's looking a lot more familiar.......

Tiger will equal Jack's record in my opinion. He may even go on to beat it. The suspect driving is his achilles heel and if he has a bad driving day he will struggle. He's also not as good a putter as he once was but that said I think he has the ability to equal Jack at worst.
