Greens are good, fairways and bare areas around the greens are very poor.
Bristol and Clifton.Which club are you a member of…I was a member of Filton from 84-96 and have played all the Bristol and immediate area courses. Filton back when I joined especially, was very much considered a workaday track - a poor cousin if you like, even though we members could see what could become of it given the significant work being carried out to develop it - and by the time I left it was maturing very nicely. I played it about ten years ago and it was in lovely condition.
Has it not rained in England at all?
Seen that fella josh oddy playing down south somewhere. Place burnt out.
Golfers are never happy. We dream of a baked out summer in ireland. You guys are crying out for rain. Haha
We have had 128mm since 1st March, that is about a month and a half’s average rainfall in the past 6 months, so it has really barely rained at all, 5mm so far in August barely a morning’s drizzle.Has it not rained in England at all?

Last year I don't think the water table ever got low over here. This year, the rainfall has been very low. It swings one way, then the other.Has it not rained in England at all?

Nice track. Played it a few times…if I recall it was generally considered one of the best, if not the best, conditioned course in the city and suburbs.Bristol and Clifton.
It has quite a makeover of the bunkering by McEvoy and also quite a lot of length added since probably you last played it, a fairly stern test of the back tees these days.Nice track. I was on a farm yesterday in St Helens if you think golf courses are suffering the farm was a dust bowl.Has it not rained in England at all?

We've had showers on the last 3 or 4 nights and one this morning. HID told me to look out for the rain after she'd put out some washing.Rained today for a bit first for a long time.
Just pondering on the comments about burnt out tracks... Does no-one have fairway irrigation?
As mentioned we do, I know Burnham and Berrow do (apparently though their reservoir is now dry and they are trucking in water at great expense), however I don't think there are any other clubs in our region with fairway irrigation.Just pondering on the comments about burnt out tracks... Nope, tees and greens only.Just pondering on the comments about burnt out tracks... Does no-one have fairway irrigation?
I guess it has not been financially justifiable, or required, previously. The cost of installation plus the amount of water used..............All big numbers.Just pondering on the comments about burnt out tracks... Does no-one have fairway irrigation?
Yesterday it rained a bit at lunch, I went for a practice round at 4:30pm and you couldn't tell. It was still dry as a bone. It has rained in tiny amounts over the last few months, but never enough to make any real difference to the fairways.Has it not rained in England at all?
