What's the most money you have played for?

Played with a load of Reading FC players when they were in the Premiership and the 'entry' was £100 a man in our four-ball. Long story short I won so pocketed £300! Worst bit though was when I was told by one of them that they usually played for £500 a man but had reduced the money as there had been a few disagreements previously!!

£50 against a pro who was a right gobby git, can't remember how many shots I got but beat him 2&1 loved it.

70 in the first medal this year. I also won a stableford last week, haven't seen the prizes but should be about another 80 :-)

Fortunately I did not know.

I was once asked to make up a four by three members who we all suspected played for reasonably high stakes (one of their regulars was away on holiday).

As well as a normal Nassau they also had side matches, oozlems, ferrets, sandies, the lot.

I accepted from the outset that I was playing for their normal stakes as I was too embarrassed or stupid to ask what these were.

Fortunately I came out on top, they were better punters than golfers, and sat down with them and a pint to settle up. I was amazed to be just over £100.

Initially I was delighted but then it dawned on me how much I could have lost. I was glad to never be asked back.

It might be a myth but the story goes , a visitor at Sunningdale was asked to make up a 4 ball
And then asked if he wanted to play for "the Sunningdale 5".
Which turned out to be £5000.00. true or false ????
