What's the most amount of money you played for?

I usually play £1 front, back and overall but once watched guys weighing in when my doubles partner had a singles match with one of the camel coats at our old club. Rumour ha it there was £500 on it.

My m8 won but didn't get a dime.

I played 3 frames of pool once for more money that I had in my bank. My collateral was my car (worth a few grand)....

First game was tight, I pipped it.
Second game, I cleared all 8 balls from the break and then potted all the remaining 7 for a 15 ball clearance.

You just made me remember a time when I was playing pool against this real ace, it was so funny because he was actually meeting his parents and they had just walked in... I broke and cleared up. Only time ever that i've cleared from the break, which in turn just reminds me how special my hole in one was (first ever golf shot my dad saw me hit was a hole in one).

Never played golf for anything worthwhile, few quid here and a few quid there. Generally I couldn't care less if I win or lose anyway... I just like to hit the ball well and have a nice cuppa afterwards :)

The most I ever played for was £50 round Westport. It really took the fun out of the game but it was nice taking the money. We play a fourball on Wednesday's and play for a £5er a man. On Saturdays we play £1 front £1 Back and £1 overall, so could lose £3. There is far more fun playing for lower stakes than alot of cash. Espically when some guys never pay out. We played American skins a few wednesdays ago and I won £12, that was nice as one of the guys is a top snooker player, who is a member of our club.
I find it dosent matter how high or low the stakes are it's the feeling of taking someone's cash.

If there are four of us, our usual bet is £2.00/£2.00/£2.00 with 50p birdies.
If there are more than 4 we normally have a kitty and throw a fiver in each.
Matchplay will be a fiver a corner

I once played a mate for diner and a couple of pints, one sirloin steak with all the trimmings later and a couple of pints down I said to myself "france to that, not doing that again!"

Usually just a £1,£1 & £1 with £0.50 birdies and oozlers(sp)!

I'll not play my regular playing partner for money as he just can't add up his score properly. Saturday I watched him hit 4 shots off the tee out of bounds and he genuinely thought he'd scored 8 at the end of the hole.

In our roll up we usually play for a fiver, which is the amount we each put in the pot for a drink tea cake and huge bowl of chips.

Pound pound, pound for us on Comp day Saturdays. during the winter, we play Sundays too and sometimes skins, 50p or pound, I hate skins though as you can be playing really well and still be well out of pocket.

£3 stableford , winner gets the drinks in (halfs or a coffee) that way the winner clears a couple of quid and everyone gets a drink.

At my old place it used to £5 and 50p bits (oosnams , birdies, eagles doubled, sand save pars, woodie pars, ferrets and golden ferrets)

I played my neighbour for £50 last year, the bet was made whilst we were both under the influence. We decided to stick with it the next day and I walked off the course smiling.

Apart from that, I occasionally play friends for a bottle of wine, max value £10 loser chooses and buys it.

I must admit, I like playing for a little something on the side, even if its a couple of quid or for lunch afterwards. Adds a little spice.

Why did I quit pool for golf?

Why not do both Dave, I do.

Plus, Shropshire could do with some players right now!

Is that right? Could the Perfectionistic Potter from Putney be re-born?

:)

I do miss it. Trouble is, with my eyesight, I'd miss too much I suspect. :)

Maybe some Dennis Taylor specs are in order.

When I previously played in my younger days with my footy mates, we used to play a fiver a hole, whoever won the hole had to take a slug of scrumpy. Bit of a leveller. Couldn't remember getting home one time, christ knows how I got my clubs back

When I played my first full round at my current club I played with two guys that are well known for playing for big money. Even though they were letting me tag along with them, they were playing for £1000.
Played with another chap the following week and he said whatever you do dont ever get involved with their big money games as they wouldnt bat an eyelid to taking the shirt off your back.
