Off on me big jols later today, bags all packed and eventually meeting up with son in Sydney. I sent him a txt asking if he wanted owt bringing over. Just had a txt off him. A bottle of Vimto. Flippin Vimto. Of all the things this great country has he wants Vimto. I cannot even remember him drinking it in the UK.

So what would you really miss.

My daughter lives in Brisbane with her husband.
We regularly have to send over 'care parcels'.. costs a fortune in postage as well.

Things such as pot noodles, Weetos, Monster Munch, Jammy Dodgers, Biscoffi spread, Penquin bars.
There's quite a few more that I can't remember.

It's a right pita as well because you have to fill in a manifesto and it has to be perfect, one thing out of order and they will confiscate and destroy the package.

We're off to see them in Feb, so looking forward to it as it will be our first time over there. Btw, who you flying with Tash?

I have not travelled a lot (in fact not at all in recent years so it might have changed) but wherever I have been the one thing I have missed is milk (or at least the taste that you get with milk sold in England).

Having come from NZ in 1988, I can remember a few things I missed.

NZ Marmite - vastly different from the UK stuff; much more like Vegemite (something Aussies really miss).
Whittaker Chocolate, particularly Raisin Slabs and 'Pencils'?. Galaxy comes close to general flavour, but nobody makes Raisin (or Peanut?) Slabs.
Fruit and Veg (particularly tomatoes, melons, squash/pumpkins) that has flavour!
Really fresh fish! I was a Poisson Cru addict

I lived in Northern France for two years and i can't say i missed anything.... other than having a conversation in my native Tongue

Always struggled to get double cream on the continent. I use it here and there in a few easy recipes, but can never get anything that works the same way....

Just been in the states for a week and realised things have gotten closer and closer in terms of produce and products available.
Even restaurant / bistro style food is very similar in terms of presentation and portion size.

I would miss soft drinks I get here. Diet Coke tastes a lot more of saccharine / sweeter over there. And diet irn bru is not available.
I'd probably miss a bacon and black pudding roll I get in Glasgow. Might not even get that in many places in the UK in fairness.

And the TV is just borderline unwatchable in the states. Radio also full of ads and promo reads.
We were listening to the Yankees baseball game in the car and we were actually laughing about how they had managed to get absolutely everything in the game sponsored to saturation point.

Lived in Asia for nine years, embraced the local food and culture rather than missing the British stuff.
But good beer and fish and chips is something I always looked forward to when returning.

Morning Lazie. in essence we are not flying direct. We are flying to Sam Francisco, Hawaii, Sydney, 10 days in Brisbane, Singapore, home. We are having 10 days in Brisbane staying in the sky tower. Brisbane Oktoberfest beer fest is on. Quite fancy that 😁. Having a car for the duration. Lad was living working in Brisbane and just loves it there. Now working on solar farms near griffiths.

British chocolate. I am not saying it is the best in the world because it is down to taste but I have grown up with British chocolate and I prefer it to any other type I have tried. I'd be asking for Galaxy, Maltesers, Dairy Milk, Fry's Chocolate Cream to be sent over.

Bag is rammed with chocolate, gotta have me revels. Lads pal loves Galaxy, I asked lad if he wants 4 bars of green and blacks bringing over. He said no 😳
