What would you miss

Have you tried those mega concentrated one squirts. Ideal for travel. They don't do vimto though 😖😊
I hope you have a hard shell suitcase. If the baggage handlers give it a good whack then spilled Vimto will purpleise everything in it and that will not be a pleasant surprise at the other end.

British bacon

Spanish bacon sucks

American bacon is ok

Lived all over the world and always embraced the local culture and cuisine. Usually there would be things that I can’t do locally rather than miss from home (if that makes sense) e.g Eating Pickled Herring or Durians.
The only exception was when I lived in Malaysia.. got myself a cup of tea and almost threw up. Not much fresh milk in Malaysia, so they make theirs in condensed milk - so the brew is overly sweet. Later on realised that you could get ‘regular’ milk tea but you have to ask for it + pay extra (definitely worth it)

It definitely won't be what you're expecting in India compared to here.
I was in India and one of the English guys asked the hosts if they could arrange for ‘Balti Chicken’... no such thing is native to India (‘Balti’ in Hindi means a Bucket) .. as gracious hosts a restaurant was located which had ‘Balti chicken’ on its menu.. as mentioned, did not taste like anything in the UK.
Also never ask for Cobra beer in India, no one drinks it here nor is it available.
Finally, a cheeseburger is mostly likely to be made of Cheese rather than have any beef in it.. 🤣

When I lived in Frankfurt in the late '80s there was nowhere to get a good Indian curry.

The pain was only softened when we found a wonderful wee Thai resturant.

Very good shout. A lot wrong with it but in my experiences with myself, and my loved ones when the chips are down and you really need help and looking after they are superb. Sadly vastly under funded, and understaffed in so many areas and things need improving but definitely a massive thumbs up overall for me and something I'd definitely miss

Taking aside the political side of it all it's great to go in for some kind of operation , like when my appendix almost burst, and come out alive and not bankrupt

I got rushed to A&E and spent 3 1/2 weeks back in 2006 with a pancreas about to rupture which may well have been game over. Superb care from a trust (not the one I work for) that had a very poor reputation at that time and came out of it like you alive, and not bankrupt. Some decent joined up follow up care as well.

There's mostly alternatives in some form for the stuff I miss to the point it's probably just symptomatic of missing home rather than the items themselves

If I'm craving a pot noodle or a sausage & egg mcmuffin or whatever, its hardly likely to be the 'quality' of these things that's got me yearning. I could happily draw up a top 20 list of food things I miss in under 2 minutes, but most would seem a bit naff to folks reading it

Plastic Coffee 'dripper'/brewer. Never thought it would be the case but nowhere in Australia could I buy a coffee 'dripper'. I could buy the paper filters - but not the plastic 'dripper'. So I had to make them by cutting the spout off a plastic funnel or by cutting a slot in the base of a little round plastic container. How I missed a 'dripper'.
