WHAT WILL THE WEEKEND BRING?

First back from outings on Sunday....played rubbish front nine...kept hitting everything fat...ended up with a 76(+3) for a nett 71....

GIRs 12/18...putts 36(inc 4 from off the green)...length of putts holed 40ft....

Bobmac....What would be classed as good for length of putts?

Thanks Bobmac....and thanks for stating the bleedin' obvious too!!!! Only holed 1 putt of more than 3ft....greens didn't help much though....

I never worry about putting at this time of year.
As long as you keep your stroke smooth it doesn't really matter if it hits a spike mark or a heal print.
As the greens improve, so will your putting

Aye, it's been a cracking weekend. Sun shone saturday and Sunday, course has dried out a lot and the full greens were on.

However, saturday morning was painting the first coat on the walls of the Junior locker room and this morning after a wee trip into work was a visit to put all the noticeboards and stuff back onto the walls in the locker room.

Hope thay look after it this year ;)

Might try and get out the back for a wee bit practice with the wedge before I need do the mothers day bit !

Have to say that despite my mediocre golf the course was in decent nick today and the greens were really quick especially for the time of year. A lot of the guys in the bar reckon they were the quickest and most true they've known them at this time of year since the new course opened in 2005. Maybe the snow and the lack of traffic (course has recently been shut for waterlogging too) has really helped them. They don't look great with a bit of moss on them probably from the snow covering but they re flat and if you pick the line it holds it no bother

Played at Castle Coombe on yesterday on what have to be the most pitchmark scarred greens i have ever seen. Just horrible trying to putt on them not helped by the fact that some of them were pretty rapid too.

Get this though - with a joining fee your first year's membership here will cost you the best part of £4K. How would you feel to see a guy in a football shirt and trainers shouting to his mates across 3 fairways durng what must be his first ever game of golf, knowing that they have been let on the course on a weekend for £30!!

Lovely setting for a golf course, just don't be a member there!!
