What shafts do you use in wedges?

I have the same shafts in my wedges as I do in my irons, but it's more for the weight than flex or 'feel'.

It wouldn't worry me if they were just wedge flex, but I had the opportunity to choose the shaft so went with it.

I used to go kbs through the irons and wedges all stiff flex and to be honest I rarely hit a full shot with a wedge, excluding my pitching wedge which is part of my irons.
I now use dg spinner shafts in my 3 wedges and as much as I like the wedges etc, I'm not sure wether a kbs or the spinner actually feels any diff on the shots I play with the wedges.

I forget sometimes how many truly exceptional players there must be on this forum. To be able to tweak your performance with this level of precision is pretty impressive.

Be good to know what marginal handicap or other performance gains you are all seeing from these subtle changes to wedge shafts.

Your usual look down your nose comments.... Shall we just buy crap like you or shall we exercise our right to do as we please with our money?

What exactly shall we talk about on this forum Snelly? What is ok with you?

Ooo, that is harsh. Just because I do not fully share your view, there's no need to be so mean.

To your point, my wedges are not crap. They are lovely and I chose them because they are blue. Very pretty. I chipped in twice with them at the weekend too so I must've really got lucky with the shafts they came with.

I wonder though if your thinly veiled barbs are just a mask to the hide your lack of improvement as a result of your wedge shaft enhancements? I bet they were expensive too!

Oh I clearly am not moving forwards, effort and money has done very little, no hiding that. I don`t think anything was thinly veiled though...;)

I think this is most definitely unnecessary. However when I buy them and use them a year I'll happily report back with the changes.

But maybe you are right, we should all just use Dunlop standard clubs as there is zero difference apparently.

Totally snobbish and exclusive comment. I think the one common trait everyone shares on here is a desire to be as good as they can and if they feel they are getting a benefit for specialist shafts why be so off with it?

I am not being snobbish or exclusive. Quite the opposite in fact - completely egalitarian. Any wedge that comes from a quality club maker can be used with success by anyone who is half decent. The marginal gains from tiny tweaks to equipment mantra is the usual story for this forum though, populated (in the main) as it is with the golf club marketeer's dream punter.

I am not saying that at all. I am saying the difference between a stock wedge that costs £80 and the modified version with a tricky shaft is negligible to all but the very best players.

I don't give a toss what you all think or buy. However, what I find a bit strange is the way the benefit from a fantastic shaft is articulated as fact. Hinting at a game changing alteration when in reality, it means so little.

I did way back in post #14 I stick to the stock shaft and haven't considered changing and actually asked if I was the exception. I definitely wouldn't get any benefit and as I'm notoriously inconsistent it would be money wasted.
