What 'rules' have you seen broken in comps?

Just on this one .. if you play your ball and it ends up in the fringe , then another player in your group plays , their ball pitches on your line and leaves a mark .. isnt there a piece about you being entitled to the lie your shot gave you , so once you are sure it was the shot after yours that made the mark you may repair it ..

have never seen it in practice but it is there isnt it ?

Indeed, I've seen this actually happen.

Player A ended up on fringe; Player B, hitting afterward, plugged in fringe directly in Player A's line. Player B's ball was lifted AND Pitch Mark was able to be repaired - after a small discussion..

Xmas foursomes today, on a par 3 our playing partners tee shot landed on the green and back spun off. The course was very very wet so next to play asks for relief for casual water which was no problem then placed the ball on the green. I pointed out that he couldn't do that only to be told he wasn't nearer the hole!

He was a bit grumpy during play of the next hole!

Of course this could be a 'local rule' a society has to keep play going. I'm not bothered with that sort of thing in the context of a society when it an understood 'local rule'. In essence no different from gimme's or not worrying too much about careful marking and measuring when dropping.

If I remember rightly, they use a similar "local rule" at The Grove during casual play
When we played the PowerPlay event a couple of years back, if we played into the deep rough we were to drop in the first cut and add a penalty shot, I assume it's to keep the pace of play going.
