What does half a million buy in your area?

Bought mine for quarter of a million 15 years ago, similar house (det 5 beds) couple of doors away sold for three quarters of a mill.

I couldn't afford to buy my own house !!!

I feel sorry for youngsters with huge mortgages, car loans, Student loans and kids and the governments of all colours are telling them to save more for retirement - cuckoo land of politics
 
3 bed semi or bungalow. Rural Sussex is very expensive. A 2 up 2 down terraced cottage near us in our village just sold for £479k within a week. Absolutely crazy.
 
A couple of beach huts down sandbanks or poole ....................... to rent is £1800 for the summer and one was sold for £170 k in 2 days in Muderford split Xchurch in Dorset , nice views but little else ..........................EYG

NO ONE is forcing them to get cars houses etc they cant afford,that's why this country is like it is people living beyond their means,liebore never stamped on the banks giving instant credit to people who could never pay it back,or a 150% mortgage to a low paid worker on a over priced house,soon as they moved in they had negative equity,no one should be able to make profit from houses and there should be a max house price and max rent.

Unfortunately no

it does have two pretty decent courses about a mile from its door though (Dean Wood and Gathurst)

It would cost an extra 200k tough just to get rid of the decor and buy a decent lawnmower.....
 
Property prices starting to look silly again. One of my neighbor has put their property on the market for a silly tag. There is something in me wanting to cash in too.

However when I look around where I live, it is just silly prices all along. If you in the market for a 4 bed semi you will be lucky to get change from half a million!!!

How far does half a million go around your place?

You could buy my entire street for £500k :smirk:

sold to me Bob, bargain.

I sold an ex council 3 bed with annexe for 225k 7 yrs ago! (prices probably havent changed that much tbh). I am now on an ok above average wage but couldnt even afford a 1 bed flat unless ex local authority without a decent sized deposit. Thats madness!

My first house, in mid Kent, was a brand new 3 bedroom semi - cost £9,700 it's all gone maaaaaad!
 
You can get an 8 bed semi with Bar, 2 x En-suite, 4 reception rooms with large 2 storey workshop, in rear garden. Access from parallel streets both sides of property £less than £400K

Mine is average 3 bed semi less than £150K, on the edge of town large gardens driveway, workshop.

St Helens is crap though lol
 
Reminds me of when I was young, I used to live in a cardboard box at the bottom of a lake .....
