What does half a million buy in your area?

Property prices starting to look silly again. One of my neighbor has put their property on the market for a silly tag. There is something in me wanting to cash in too.

However when I look around where I live, it is just silly prices all along. If you in the market for a 4 bed semi you will be lucky to get change from half a million!!!

How far does half a million go around your place?

Dont know the area, but if you can transplant it to Surrey.. the first would be about 900K and the second about 700K and will be sold in the first week (i think)

Same round here, you wont get much change out of 1.2 mil for a 5 bed detached.

How can people afford these houses? You gotta be a business person or contractor or bonus based pay to make that kind of money. Even for someone who earns a 100K a year as salary - top 1% salary earner in the country these houses are outside the affordability range..

Newbury is a bit cheaper than Surrey, but a 50 minute train to London means it's not cheap still. £500k will get you a nice 4 bed detached.
