what did you shoot today?

played a friendly game with a mate, 2 birdie's, and won on the 18th,
we played for £10 to make it interesting

put it in the fruity, and won just over £50, a good day :)

Hit the range as we were on temps again and I didn't see the point of playing. Wish I'd done just that. One of those horrid sessions where you know you are working on the right things, being diligent to set up and practice swings but come the proper shot it just isn't happening. It wasn't far off and I know what the issue is but everything was just that nagging 10% off that meant shots were either not as sweet as I'd like or wandered a fraction off line (would have been greenside bunker). I know its in there so we'll wait and see what happens midweek when I hit the range again. If its still off I might get a refresher lesson. Its a big change going to this one plane swing and perhaps the initial results have given me a false sense of achivement and I've hit a plateau until I get some more help.
This was me today on the range as well after my Saturday debacle Homer, the only problem is I was hitting the new Pings well on Saturday and it wasn't them that was causing the bad score, it was the wretched temp "Greens?!"
After some good range sessions with the new clubs, they decided to have a misbehaving day today

Got to the range and was the first there. Asked for a medium basket token, put it in the dispenser and got 6 balls!! They then gave me a large basket- good public relations. hit 10 7irons OK of which but then got to some balls that had ice on them and they started going anywhere. I then had to clean the ice off a few. That helped. 15 five irons later I was hitting it better. Then to 3 wood- sun was out and low and I had to move to see the trajectory. Then on to 9 iron and hit shots to different distances. A good workout ready for tomorrow. It will be cold but dry.

Played just the 9 holes today and enjoyed every hole,no temporary greens which was a real plus,I hit the ball really well, although my putting let me down a couple of times,I ended up shooting three over on the front nine which is one of my best scores to date.even though the back nine is a lot harder I feel as if I'm making progress the new mizzies (3&4 hybrids) are gonna help me in shot selection as well, cos they did the job great today.

Not quite today's score, but yesterday's.
Played in winter sweep, only three quarters handicap, tough school ;)
Shot 9 over for 40 points, was six over after 6 but plugged away and was only 3 over for last 12 holes. Winner had 42 points so not too far away.
The lesson of the day was to keep plugging away and not expect too much, first 6 probably tried too hard.

Looking forward to season now last four stableford scores have been 39,32,40 and 40 :))

Couple of nice photo's! Golf was pants, infact it was a joke we were even playing. The course was rock solid from start to finish, reckon it will have done some damage to the greens.

Bolloxs Perryman,it was -4 with us but was playable, you just have to have the skills to play the shots!!:fore:

I don't think I have ever hit so many punch shots as I have hit over the last 2 days!No point in hitting anything above 15 feet high in these conditions!! Shot around 70 scratch yesterday and around 72 today by keeping the ball on the deck, didn't hit the ball as well today as yesterday but the hole was like a bucket today....frosted greens are easy, just belt it at the hole as there is little break and it goes down for cover!!

That said it was farcical, with some ball bouncing 30 foot in the air on landing!!

Great fun all the same though!:)

That's good shooting, shame you can't do that in normal conditions :D
Cracking morning though unfortunately my team let me down, played no bad again.
A bet wood had white stuff all over his new titleist weapons-and it wasnt ice.

Personally I feel a bit cheated this weekend. Played yesterday on temps and actually don't feel like I've played golf at all and it's back to work tomorrow - damn you cold weather

At least I have my new bats to look forward to this week and the forecast is looking milder next weekend.

Played today after a 12 hour night shift and 3 hours sleep.

Wasn't expecting to play well as I was knackerd and the course was on temp greens and still pretty frozen in places.

Shot a gross 94 nett 72 so not too bad.

Plus the the new thinner grips on my irons feel a lot better, it's like having a new set of irons.

I know that feeling. Brother up this weekend for a game, Last weather was ok, bit damp. Next is due to be in double figures temp wise. This weekend, saw my pond pump freeze up on the Sat night, and Sunday morning 1/2 inch thick of ice on the surface. We still had frost covered grass at 3pm after a day of sunshine.

Shot 95 today. Didn't play that good off the tee but the hybrid was on fire and putting was pretty decent as well. Not bad into a howling wind but a shame it was a bogey comp off 3/4 handicap. We finished 16th with -1 and my partner only contributed to the score for 3 holes!

Wasn't going to play today but a couple of mates talked me into going out. 16 points front 9 (with a blob Murph!) and 19 coming back in despite hitting a ball OOB (by 3") on the last. Didn't realise they had moved the OOB posts quite a way nearer the fairway. Luckily my mates told me.....after I'd hit it. All in all, quite chuffed with he way I played.

My 1st outing of the year, due to back injury, and boy did I pick a Crappy day to make a Comeback.....!!
Really strong winds, and every Proper Green OFF today, 18 Winters......!!
No frost or anything.....Just TOO wet
But these winters arent 'proper' prepared winters, just holes in the fairways, short of the greens.
Anyway, all Ok the 1st 5 holes, was +1, 11pts.
Then just hold up after hold up. 2 hours 10mins to play 9 holes, forward tees and winters.....!! Short Course for heavens Sake
Interest was fading, mine and my 2 partners too.
Anyway played 15 holes ( 1 hole shut, skipped last 2 ) , 30 points, satisfactory return, gota get going at some point and blow away the cobwebs.
But Putting on these 'temp' greens is a Bloody Joke, dont mind winters, but ours......!!

-1 today.

Was lucky to get away with that score to be honest. Had a bit of a mare off the tee on two holes which saw me scrambling big time, although luckily my putting saved me again keeping the damage down to two bogeys.

Overall 13 pars, 3 birdies, 2 bogeys.

Ash!!

Shocker today, blobbed first 4 holes and standing on the 6th with 1 point in the bag....very depressing. Managed 7 on the front 9 then picked up a bit on the back 9 to finish par/blob/par/par/par, for 19 on the back so a grim 26 overall. Luckily just a knock with my mate so no hacp lost. Ive just started some swing tweaks with my pro who wants them ingrained by April so i should expect some erratic scoring i guess.

Hope it pays off - certainly didnt feel that way at the start... :(

Good day today. Wind was really strong and was the root cause of my problems on the front nine. Butgot it together at the turn and played solid if unspectacular golf for +8 and 23pts. Anyone else find putting tough in strong wind?

A bit of a mixed day today. Had a winter league match against a pair who'd lost every game so far. Great guys and we knew we'd be in for an enjoyable round. Had a horrific start - topped my first 2 drives and couldn't get the ball airborn with my irons! Settled down after that and played some pretty steady stuff from there on in, particularly on the back 9 when we had the wind with us. Hit some booming drives but I'll say no more on that matter! We were one down on the 17th and I had a really nasty putt to win the hole. It lipped out and I missed the return so that was game over. Lost 2&1. Wind was crazy for most of the round. Par 3 13th into the wind was 115 yards to the middle. 7 iron came up short despite me creaming it!

Tiger - putting was a nightmare. Found it so hard to keep the putter steady, and the ball was being influenced by the strength of the wind once it got rolling. Made it very challenging indeed. Hoping it will make those still warm days to come that little bit easier though! :)
