What are your strengths, does your handicap travel and why ?

No particular strengths.

Handicap could travel well but I usually have a couple of disaster holes through taking on the unknown and they ruin the round. A little more conservative play would see me scoring better away from home.

My h/c travels quite well as I don't have any bogey holes to think about , but my downfall is distance from the tee.
Giving me another 30/40 yrds off the tee and I might be able to catch long par 4s in reg.
From 100 yrds in I estimate I'm a 8/9 h/c, from 150yrds in a 12h/c , but my h/c is 16.4 at the moment..

Strengths are generally driving and iron play. Not that they're good but they're the things I'm best at. Short game and putting, on the other hand, are horror shows.

H/C travels well enough - I've missed the buffer at all kinds of places.

I'll start,

I'm a reasonable driver and pretty straight off the tee.

Playing links I think makes you a better all round player as conditions are different every time you play.

How about you?

Meant to ask (too late to edit my post)

Re the conditions changing, that is true of parkland courses aswell surely or does the wind not blow on parkland courses!?

I'm inconsistent across the board. One day I'll shoot single figure hcap scores, the next it'll be poor.
All the shots are in there, stringing them together and avoiding the big miss is my problem.
Only real strength is that I hit it reasonably long, but wild!

Hcap travels ok usually, but I have a lot of shots to play with!

No strengths, just some parts of my game are not as bad as others. I am good at keeping a card, and of course I am excellent company.

I'm good at driving off the tee, not too bad with the irons but the hybrids need more work. The main focus for this year is going to be putting with the emphasis on practice, practice, practice. No official handicap but would imagine it might come out in the low twenties. I only play once a week at the moment ( have not even done that for the last 5 weeks) but aiming to play more this year.

Generally good of the tee. Long irons are my down fall. I'd say I throw 10 shots a round a way with them. I sometimes think I'd be better hitting two pw then trying to hit my 4iron.

Not sure I can say I have any real strengths playing off 18. Can hit good shots in every par of my game but it's the consistency that's the real problem. Not sure how well it travels yet, only had it a few months.

Relatively long off the tee which, when straight, is a big help.

Was talking with my playing partner today, I'm probably a 9 handicap in my long-game, but around 3-4 handicap from 100 yards in and around the greens.

Hopefully the course of lessons will improve my greens and fairways in reg and save me a couple of shots a round.

you must have changed a hell of a lot through the later part of the year - I have you the opposite!

put another way, give the average 3 handicapper your tee shots and they will shoot under their handicap, not above.

Played with Jim at Wentworth- he was very long and straight off the tee- really made me concentrate to keep up with him:whistle:- his wedge play from 110 yds had me enquiring what the wedges were and where do I find them.

My strength is long irons and fairway woods, wedge play I reckon I'm a 14 h/cap. No point getting to wedge distance on a long par 5 or short par 4 then taking 4 more to get in the bleedin' hole:angry:

Strengths = Inconsistency

One round I can drive it like a beast, the next, I can spray it about like no one else. Same with putting, when it's good, it's very good, when it's bad, it's a car crash.

As for handicap travelling, not sure, don't play too much away from my home course.

My strengths are virtually everything except driving.
For my handicap I'm very poor off the tee, and that puts extra pressure on the rest of my game. If it's "on" I can save some very unlikely pars. If not then........
If I drive well I score well, I've said that for a long time and it's no coincidence that my best scores have come when I'm good off the tee.
15 years ago I was a good driver of the ball and my handicap travelled reasonably well but since that aspect of my game has gone South, the best I normally play away from home is averagely unless it's a very open course.
