I did a little research recently and decided the best ball for me was a Nike PD soft. Everything I read about it was true. It feels great off of the club, and travels well without the need of fast club speed. They are not expensive either, and pearl grade balls can be purchased for about 50p each on ebay. After purchasing and using these for the last few months, I read somewhere the straightest golf ball in the world is a Bridgestone e6. It is advertised as reducing side spin drastically, travels well, and still feels relatively soft. I was in my pro shop this morning looking through the basket of balls and saw one. For the outlay of a £1 I decided to give one a test drive. Well, the nice people at Bridgestone certainly weren't lying. These balls are quite amazing, and I have never managed to spend so much time on the fairway in any one game. Needless to say, if you slice one or hook one badly it will go to the left or right respectfully, but believe me, the reduction in spin is quite amazing. There was also no noticeable difference in distance compared to the PD soft. After a few holes I got used to the fact the ball felt a little firmer than the Nike, and the feel of the ball on the green was excellent. I played 9 holes, and up until the 8th I was on for a record round. Unfortunately I completely cocked up on the 9th, but that was my own stupid fault.

For you low handicappers I am pretty sure this isn't the ball for you, but for us mere mortals I would strongly suggest you give this ball a whirl. I just ordered 20 pearl grade balls on ebay for £13.95 delivered, but has meant I have had to put 24 Nike PD soft balls up for sale.

Dont think they will be around long as Bridgestone are pulling out the UK golf market. Stock up whilst you can if they are what you use.

i would disagree about the E6 feeling firmer than the nike, those things are like hitting a pebble of the beach. when i find any of those walking the dogs i tend to throw them back.

I don't want to burst your bubble mate, but I don't think the ball made anywhere near as big a difference as you're making out. You just played well. You'd have played equally well with a Dunlop discount ball, a Bridgstone E6 or a Titleist Pro V1.

I also agree with Patrick that for me, the E6 feels a lot softer than the PD Soft.

Yes, I am aware of that, and may buy a few more.

Cheers

I wouldn't go mad. You'll be able to buy lake balls forever.

I use e6's in the winter. The main advantage to me is it goes as far as a proV in the summer, so I don't have to faff about adjusting club distances.

The main difference I've noticed is it doesn't spin as much on short shots, but full shots into a green stop pretty much dead.

Use the e6 for winter and summer. Brilliant ball in my opinion. Agree with you about the straightness of the tee shots. Pick all mine up off eBay, pearl grade e6. Box of 50 £32 notes I think. I know they are pulling out some time in Feb from the UK market. But these balls will be on the bay for a long time to come so no need to overstock. Still on my first box of 50 with about 34 left had them since November.

Certainly feels firmer than the Nike PD Soft as stated in the OP though! agree about many other Nike offerings, including premium ones, though!I lump Nike balls firmly  in the same category as Callaway ones - Chrome Soft and SR1 being notable exceptions!

I hope so! I play the E6 early and late season and really like it, have played the orange and yellow versions in winter and have found it to be as good as anything including the white painted balls of concrete known as pure distance balls!

Last year I played a couple of premium balls in the height of summer and did well with them, so I'm looking forward to trying the B330 samples I got with my last couple of boxes of E6.

In my opinion it would be good if they've found a way to remain in the UK as it would maintain a good range of ball choices for golfers at all levels.

I used to love a ball from Precept - EV extra spin

A great budget ball and at the time suited my game perfectly.

I think Bridgstone own Precept?

Not long after starting playing I found a callaway cxr control that I thought was the answer to all my golfing woes. Stocked up from sports direct and was so happy.

I was wrong.

No I very much doubt it, all that will have happened is someone has took the initiative to be a UK sole distributor.
