I'm not a fan of galvin green goretex stuff. It doesn't fit me, the material is hard, inflexible, noisy, and rubs my neck raw. For the money, I'd expect a more comfortable experience. Some may not agree though! Dry, yes, but that's not all it's about.

I've just bought a Ping challenge short sleeved top. It is stretchy, comfy, and has a 3 year waterproof warranty. It'll do me, as I don't play much when it's chucking it down.

I have also bought some Lindegerg Troon trousers, in their H2off fabric. I hate wearing waterproof trousers, and I hope that these will bridge the gap between full on waterproofs and getting soaked. Bung them on if the forecast looks murky, and away you go. They should arrive tomorrow.

Totally agree about GG and for the price I don't think its as good as other offerings for the same reasons as you. Not convinced by these new semi-waterproof trousers on offer so would be interested in a report back once you've tried them

It's funny murph for the last two seasons I've done the same, puma/nike shower proof bottoms with a 3/4 sleeve fj top. Only downside is in the 3/4 top your arms still get drenched. My course has no shelter from the elements so I think a decent suit is needed.

I tried on the tour 360 suit from proquip tester and have to say it was very very nice, unfortunately the shop wasn't prepared to match an online price so he lost the sale.

I bought a Goretex suit from Justgolfonline made by Sunice for about £150 earlier this year, and it does the job pretty darn well

I bought a pair of ProQuip trousers recently and was pleasantly surprised when I was in Portugal in the monsoon style rain as I stayed bone dry, I also have a short sleeved GG top. Only parts that got wet were forearms/hands, head and feet (the areas that were not covered!).

Last encounter I had with ProQuip was a long time ago and their stuff was not very good, seems like they have improved a lot :)

I've got Cross trousers and a Sunderland jacket and I've put them through hell and I've never been wet or even damp! The trousers aren't "over-trousers" if you know what I mean, I always just commit to them and wear shorts underneath, comfortable and dry.

I have a six year old set of Mizuno Permalite Waterproofs. Wore them Monday in icelandic Trawler conditions and returned bone dry underneath. Fantastic product.

You're not alone, two off my friends have complained about the exact same things. Sunice GT range is also excellent, much softer and won't hit the wallet as hard. And when the other half does find out how much you paid, it will also be much easier on the ear drums.

Its not this top by any chance is it :smirk:

I only wear it for wind and the occasional shower at best, its not suitable for anything heavier, really lost its "white" look now also :(

The Mizzy Impermalite jacket has pop off sleeves, good for all year round.

I have a GG jacket, Proquip trousers, a friend of mine bought a ProQuip suit at the same time. Both of us have been out in torrential weather and we both come in totally dry. ProQuip are quality, reliable suits and I would have total peace of mind in your shoes.
