Vintage Golf

Spotted last night, made an offer, collected locally today.

Dunlop Peter Thomson Mark 6 circa 1973.
Driver, 3-wood, 3-SW and matching putter. Cleaned up nicely and ferule gaps easily sorted.
Picture is after cleaning and before ferules sorted.

Dunlop PT Mark 6.jpg

I already had the woods 3,4,5, but the new 3-wood is better condition.
Whole 14 clubs 1,3,4,5 and 3-SW and putter - lovely matched set. (and a spare 3-wood)
Putter grip is fine, but 11 new grips required.

Major error above.
The putter is Dunlop Peter Thomson Mark 6 as it is clearly stamped on the back. The Mark 6 was 1970.

The irons are the 1973 model that came after the 1970 Mark 6 version.
I already had the Mark 5 version.

As shown here...

Still very chuffed with them.

I have a set of the 1973 and they're really nice irons.
I was considering playing them today for a match but eventually opted for the George Nicoll Henry Cotton, Cotton Plus.

Any info on Lynx Predator Irons?
Pro shop has a set 3-PW + SW, original grips, seem to be decent condition,
Pro asking £60.00

Don't know a lot about the brand but I think they'd be a 1970s or 80s model.
Lynx got a lot of love around that time, as did most of the overseas brands. I've not hit any but believe that they were a decent club.

I got these a while back and gave them to my mate last year as he was looking at getting into club customisation/refurbishment. He's finally pulled his finger out and got them done - and I'm very pleased with the result!

The irons are 4 to SW Wilson FG-51 from circa 91 I believe (my birth year). Tiny heads, very unforgiving, but not better feeling in golf than flushing that 4 iron.

"... a while back" being nearly 3 years

Well done, though. Very classic look, in my opinion.
Full refurb would mean some red and black paint for the W/S Staff logo and lettering on the sole.

Bloody hell is that when it was!?

To be honest I'd almost forgotten I had them and then my mate messaged me out the blue asking me to remind me what I wanted doing with them 😂.

I've asked to just keep them black just on the numbers and fg51 stamp and leave the rest chrome. Nice clean look.

Putter arrived today that I will put with a very special Wison X31 set (link below) that has a gold and black theme with leather grips.

A "Ford" putter.
Just what I need right now for putting through puddles.
D'ya geddit?

Collected a half set of Dunlop Blue Flash today.
Driver and 3-wood. Irons 3, 5, 7, 9 and putter.
Great condition and very thrilled as this was what I played with more than 50 years ago - although they were junior size 2&4 woods, 3,5,7,9 irons.
Photos of them later.
Only 20 minutes away so no postage charge. Nice clean bag in good order. No coins of the realm or Polo Mints inside, however.

(12 days of Christmas tune needed here)
FIVE DUNLOP WARWICKS !
11 Airstream balls
3 tee pegs
2 ball washers
And a practice hole to annoy the wife.

There is a Commando and a range ball, but they are in the bin already.
One ball washer unused still in its wrapper.
Could not resist unwrapping one of the Warwicks for a look.

Can't see any brand name on it. Metal painted green on the underside, covered in green felt on the upper.
Makes a great metallic clatter when you hole one. Hence the annoy-the-wife joke.
No brand name anywhere on the bag is odd, because it is very well made. Could be a Greban.

I like them better without the paintfill.

Golf clubs in general look better to me without much writing on them. The cleaner the better.
