Someone posted something on a thread earlier today that got me thinking (daydreaming more like).

GM have given away some fantastic prizes in the time I've been using the forum, but what to you would be the ultimate opportunity?

I love the idea from earlier, where you get to play a round with a top caddie on your bag. The stories and the banter on the way round would be priceless, and having someone suggest the best shots to play backed up by fantastic knowledge would imo be worth more than a swing lesson from a great coach.

Within reason or not, what would your 'Carlsberg' prize be?

Mine would probably be something more along the lines of the PYB challenge last year, but with more emphasis on the lessons etc. I thought the idea of having lessons and coaches was something I would of loved to do, but with simply more of it, getting tested each time with trackman etc to see if my swing was altering in the right way and checking the equipment was still suitable for me as I changed during the time.

Good question:thup:

To get 'behind the ropes' ie access all areas pass at the Open and be able to walk round with any group.
A lesson from a top 10 pro for an hour whilst there and a Driver from the Pro's manufacturer.

To be fair the PYB for me pretty much nails it, free full fitting, free clubs, free season long assistance and coaching. What more could you want..

Other than that i'd take a years membership to to RSG

For me personaly I would have to be a full fitting , yes I know they have done this numerous times , but id love to be fitted properly by someone who is not trying to sell me the dearest thing they have or can get , to go to one like the TM day would be pefect for my GM Ultimate

Now for the GENERAL answer to your question if I couldn't get the above ..

Travel over with the guys to cover a major/wgc on press passes ,sit in on & do a couple of interviews , play in the pro am with a top tour player , attend the practice & 4 competition days of the comp , with an interview with the winner , play the course the day after off the sunday tees .. simple realy

Full kit out from the manufacturer of your choice. 1 lesson a week from your nearest GM top 25 coaches and membership of the club he is associated with for a year. After the year you get to play in a comp against the other 3 lucky winners of the comp in a 2 round stableford using your acquired handicap from the year with a top caddy on your bag. The course would be whichever one is voted at No.1 in the GM yearly list.

A full Titleist fitting would be my dream I guess... or a Mizuno iron and Titleist wood fitting, tour of both factories and all that good stuff.

For me it's a week in the shoes of a tour pro at a real top event (major, WGC or even the Ryder Cup).

Attend pre and post tournament dinners, presentations etc

Play the practice rounds and pro am with some of the top pros

Unlimited behind the ropes access at the event, tour trucks, caddie and player areas etc

Equipment for free all be it superb to get IMO is materialistic, you can get a fit anywhere and pay the rate for it but you cannot buy the above experience for any money.

Do the full week of events at the Pebble beach pro-am including playing in the main event with a top pro. That would be an experience of a lifetime.

Spending Masters week at Augusta providing blog, twitter, website and magazine content for the magazine from a readers perspective. Conducting interviews with a few of the greats, some of the newbies like Oleson and Guan and some of the contenders and then getting drawn out of the media hat to play the course ala Tappers a couple of years ago

OR

Spending Ryder Cup week at Gleneagles doing pretty much the same thing and then playing the course with the GM team on the Monday

The fitting's stuff is great but if (and its a big IF) I had a cash windfall I could buy that for myself. But this kind of thing money can't buy and would be a once in a lifetime experience!!!

Think that might get a few interested!

I think I'd go for greenfees on the top 10 from the GM Top100 - Hell I'd be quite happy remaking the island hopping article Jezz (I think but probably wrong) did a couple of years back up in Scotland!

I would like a top caddy and pro to come to my course and see what they could shoot with our dodgy fairways greens and bunkers. Then go to a top course and see what I could shoot with their help.
