On saturday Me and a few mates rolled up in the club stable ford. Out of the six of us I was the only one to enter 2's club... I made an awful start to the front 9, with a triple bogey, a double and two singles. But all of that didn't matter when on the 6th hole at Marlborough, a 180 yard downhill par 3, I stiffed my hybrid approach to 8 feet. I rolled in the putt. My brother told me "that will be worth £15, well done". On the 8th hole however, mine and my brother's round had been cut short because our Grandma had been taken in an ambulance to Bristol hospital. Even though I didn't finish the round, I won £120 (for the two) and my Grandma is just fine!

Blimey that is one hell of a return! I've had two in the last couple of weeks, I got £2.70 and £9.

Most important thing is your grandma is OK though

nice going. i was the only winner of a two in one of the comps last year 70 entrants, thought i was going to get £70, wrong, only 40 payed there £1 tight buggers

A lot of us have stopped entering our ball sweep.

It cost £2 and we get paid out in balls, so a 2 can often be worth just 2 or 3 Pro v's and we would generally share them with the group so you could just end up with one ball each. I usually buy my balls in bulk and what I save by not doing the sweep pays a good part of the bulk purchase

When i was a member at Marlborough I would only enter the 2s when it wasn't divided into divisions. However, given the fact all of the par 3s (with the exception of the 2nd possibly) are extremely tough you are usually in with a good chance to win some cash.

one year in the club champs, i had 5 2's over the weekend, despite shooting pretty poor scores. I ended up with about £100 in credit, more than the winner of the event got :)

When were you a member there? my mate used to be club captain, probably circa 2002 ish? Simon Dobie.. know him?

I joined when i first moved to Swindon, in 5 years of being here i've been a member of 3 courses - Marlborough, West Berks & now The Players. To say Swindon struggles for good quality courses is an understatement.

Name rings a bell, but i never really integrated there. Nice course, just didnt suit me at all.

I've found home now, despite having to drive 30miles to get there :D
