Tv subscriptions

We pay for Netflix. And Disney Plus I think. Don't have a TV package, we just have an Amazon FireStick you can watch the normal channels through. Rarely watch actual TV though anyway. My dad is kind enough to let me watch his Sky Go account, so I use that for the golf. The Amazon account is my brother-in-laws so we piggy-back off that. Wife's auntie has an account on our Netflix too, so it's nice to share accounts around the family and help costs that way.

Our TV licence is overdue, and just as I do every year, I'm thinking seriously about not renewing it. Pretty sure we can get by without live TV or BBC iPlayer.

In summary, we're really not paying much for TV subscriptions.
It's actually quite shocking what the BBC try to clamp down on without the TV licence 🤬

Its TV watched live or recorded via any platform except iPlayer which all content requires a licence.
Not really much different to how it's always been.

if you are only streaming - and not including BBC I player and the stuff you are watching is not live then you don’t have to pay it

I don’t know how that affects live sport on say Amazon Prime or Dazn etc
You need a license to watch live sport on any platform.

I hate everything about Sky. All I want is Sky Signature and Sky Sports with a Fixed Price. They increased it by 10.75% in April and now renewal in a month. There is no option. I built mt stress levels up, got through and they have a system down.

Help, help please. End up taking to somebody who I cannot understand. They try crawling staying I am a Diamond Customer, I know then try and sell me something else. This is worse than a 3 foot putt on 18th.

Count yourself lucky. That means you can record to hard disk and skip the adverts. The fundamental business plan behind streaming TV has to be to do with making sure adverts get seen.
Like @Pin-seeker I had no idea…indeed I’ve been wondering about why I still have a Sky dish…could I just do without it - indeed is it actually redundant? Being able to skip ads is a joy - most noticeable when watching something on ITVx or All4…when you can’t (…it’s quite rare we watch anything on ITV).

The joy of having to pay so little for the totally ad free TV that is the BBC 👍🥰

We’ve just downgraded out Sky to their essentials package so that’s £15pm from £75pm. Get Netflix basics and Discovery+ with that.

I pay for Now TV Sports plus HD booster which is £24pm and the 6 monthly dance of cancelling and getting to the last page where they offer me a 6 months deal to extend.

Pay £100 for Amazon but that’s many for the shopping.

Disney+ was bought when lockdown kicked in but it won’t be renewed with their current increase in costs.

Unfortunately the kids love Disney plus and I had to up netflix as they want to watch different things at once lol

Wife watches netflix when doing the washing, 2 of them watching a show together and then the unsocial one gets her tablet and watches something else as she claims not to like that show
