The amount of subscriptions you need to watch the latest series/sports seems to have gone crazy.
Netflix,,Prime,Paramount,sky sports,tnt,apple.
Not to mention the price of pp events.

Just curious as to what subscriptions people have & how much they pay,as due to “offers” they can vary a lot.

Netflix £18.99
Amazon £100 ISH a year
Disney £130 a year

Mainly for the kids
I find Netflix is worth having for a month & then cancelling for a couple, same with Amazon.
They tend to get a bit stale imo.
Disney+ wasn’t around when my lad was little, but can imagine that’s decent value if you’ve got a young en.

No point cancelling Amazon, it's only there for the delivery, TV is a bonus

Netflix the kids watch all the time , had to up it as they all watch different things

We have Sky with sport, films etc, which ‘includes’ subscriptions to Netflix and Disney, which I think incur additional fees. Paramount is also included but doesn’t incur any further fee. Paramount has some of the best shows at the minute. I think we pay £131 per month for those. We also have Amazon.

All these streaming services have fragmented TV. And each separate subscription has only a few programmes worth watching.

Wouldn't it be great if one simple annual fee meant you could watch everything available? We could call it a TV licence.

To be fair it's called a fire stick.. £25.. unfortunately companies are greedy. Disney just raised Disney plus from £110 to £129 a year.. like Disney is ever short of cash eh?

They want to stop the dodgy sticks we'll provide everything on one service for a reasonable price.

I don't get what sky don't understand about this. Price it lower and more people will get it then you will make the same if not more money.

For example sky golf. If that was £5 a month on its own rather than bolted into the sky model at £17 a month (last time I looked) for 1 sport or £27 for the lot then I'd wager so many more people would watch the golf. More kids would get into the game because it's available to watch because it's affordable

Remember when Netflix launched they had so much more for less money. Then got greedy and Disney appear , took their copyrights back and made their own service. Was actually reasonable .. £50 at first then £60. When it got to £90 it was like ok that's still reasonable. £130? For what?

No wonder the fire sticks have grown in popularity.. people are fed up of being taken for mugs

Sky have someone who has done a price elasticity analysis for them. They advertised that position about 5 years ago, I didn’t get to interview for that.

Disney also has one, they filled it 4 1/2 years ago, unfortunately I only came 2nd out of a lot of applications. But the post was advertised again earlier this year.
I know from further round conversations that some basic principles come down from global HQ, so they might get told to increase and are allowed input into how much.

In general a lot of time when people say ‘build it and they will come’ the companies have looked into it well before. Sometimes they get it wrong, but if Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Sky … all pull the same trigger then for that model it will be best for them. Unfortunate for us.

We got sky for free because O2 did a lot of messing around when I changed phone providers they have it as apology for 18 months (I think).
Amazon was already there for delivery, Disney+ we got during lockdown. They keep adding new Star Wars bits so we keep it, also a couple of new movies a year. If you go to the cinema with a family for those, that Money pays for a subscription.

I got a monthly trial for Apple TV, I think I logged into it twice to look for stuff, ever bothered to keep it. Have an offer now for buying a new device, not even clicking the link on it.

There is one thing on Netflix I want to see (Lincoln Lawyer; basically the other side of Bosch), just passing on it.

If you’ve not watched Black bird,on apple i highly recommend it.

Virgin fully loaded
Prime
Netflix

And use my brother's Disney+

Kids use Netflix loads and I'd be disowned by mom and dad if I got rid of it. They love it, and I quite enjoy their reviews on what new stuff they've watched.

I buy loads from Amazon, so class the TV as free and otherwise only have Netflix at the cheapest subs.

Got a recent reward from Sky broadband so have Paramount + for a while.

Never had Sky and if I had loads of choice on the telly, I wouldn't leave the house, so keep it to a relative minimum.

Amazon is a no brainer for us the amount it’s used , it’s around £4.99 a month

Have a deal for Disney plus and also Netflix with Sky

Apple TV is free through the wife’s work

and TNT have a deal

Only thing I miss is the champions cup

The subscription model - genie has opened that bottle ,the broadcasters earn fortunes

Firesticks - ISPs are under pressure to restrict internet to those that use them to watch subscriptions content illegally. They are just a symbol of the must have society but not willing to pay the fee
