trouble at t' mill!

Requarding the OP,its reasons like this why I was reluctant to enter comps at my last club and nowdays there's too much of this underhand stuff going on at clubs.Whatever happened to the honest gentlmans game....

we have a local club ( cant name and shame as a forum member plays there) but it is near eccleston park, and i had free membership, they had certain comps that took the winner to dubai or other various destinations( owned by crown golf) and it was always a committeeman who won with the best score of their lives,or they always won the nearest the pin or longest drive AND were always the last group out, funny old game!!!!!!!!

This is the comment that bothers me Gibbo.
Your mate Kris on his day can shoot level par,and he plays off 9.
Does this mean you think his handicap is not right.
Is this in competition play,or bounce games.
In our group we have 3 8 handicappers and a 9 handicapper.
None of us have shot level par in fact the best is 72 on a par 69 and that is once in a blue moon.
Every week we enter the comps and our handicaps could not be truer than they are.
If i had a mate who as you put it "on his day" can shoot level par,
i would say his handicap is not a true handicap.
9 under handicap?

yeah I was a bit over egging his ability. he has scored a 4 over in general player which was a 7 under nett as he was off 11at the time (which was the supplementary he was semi forced to enter which he didnt mind as happy to get as low as possible). in comps plays to 9 regular. He was a lot lower in his mid teens but kids etc meant he gave up for quite a few years. So his handicap is accurate as his comp scores show.

We are going to see what is said on Sunday and what the atmosphere is like. If not happy then we have agreed that maybe we should all move on.

semi forced to enter a supplementary i thought these had to be declared prior to playing and the card submitted and recorded regardless of score?
Submitting a card after a round for general play cut isnt allowable anymore?

Some things could be a one off but your club G1BBO is starting to smell fishy on lots of counts. No smoke without fire and all that.

Besides you will make loads of new pals at another club.

Perhaps GIBBO was being a bit free and easy with his words and meant that the guy was capable of parring every hole regularly but hasn't put all 18 together in competition.

GIBBO - why was the comp shown as a non-qualifier on Masterscoreboard?

havent got a clue Rosecott, maybe as its over 2 rounds with no comps inbetween so no handicap changes?

I am clueless with all that stuff and just turn up and play generally :)
