So in keeping with the recent threads on Parkland, Heathland, seems only right to start one about Links courses too!

If you look at the GM Top 100, links courses dominate the top 50.

I've only played a handful but have to say that my top 5 links are:

Old Course
Royal St Georges
Saunton East
Royal Cinque Ports
St Andrews New

With Saunton West and Princes (Shore and Dunes) just below them.

Turnberry (Ailsa),
Royal St Georges,
Cinque Ports,
Littlestone,

Short list for me so far. Thinking that may change after November when I've played a few more.

I played a few links courses - this is in order for me

Old Course
Royal St George’s
Royal Cinque Ports
Saunton East
Royal Liverpool

Special mention to Littlestone which I think is a gem

Burnham and Berrow , St Enodoc and Saunton West next

Next year will have one more to add to that list when i visit relatives in N Ireland - then need to get to Scotland and play some more highly regarded links courses

Not played many either, and my list isn't quite so highbrow as the rest of you:

- Royal Porthcawl
- Hillside
- Seacroft
- Sandilands
- Formby Ladies
Special mention:
- Pitch & Putt on Pentire Headland, Newquay

I can categorically state, without fear of contradiction that the absolute, best Links course I've ever played is Hayling

For me.

Love St Enodoc and Saunton west, but think St Enodoc has a few too many average holes and the par 3s are not in the same league as Burnham

5 Links that's quite tough as they all have there own little quirks that make them special.. so my personal choices would be...

Royal St George's
Royal Cinque Ports
Seacroft
Lahinch
Lytham and St Anne's

Royal St. George’s
Carnoustie
The Old Course St. Andrew’s

Perm any two from;

Littlestone
Rye
Royal Cinque Ports
Saunton Sands East
Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s
North Berwick

depending on how I feel at that particular moment.
