Over the last few days I've sold off the remainder of my Srixon Z-Star golf balls.

I feel that I'm really not doing the ball justice and not getting the best out of it. Following on from this I've decided to move back to a more mid-range ball and the above are firmly on the radar.

I've had experience with the NXT Tour, albeit in 2012, and found them pretty good.

Never played, or even seen an NXT Tour S.

Anybody have an opinion on the Tour S?

I wouldn't change anything, yr handicap is going the right way ! But, if you fancy tinkering with your balls ;) Then AD333 tours are decent, as are those Vice one's.

I agree regarding the handicap and changing things

However, there is a distinct difference in distance that is being evidenced on the course.

I don't have the firepower in the form of swing speed that some of you guys do :smirk:

Odd, I started playing with the Zstar balls I got from subscribing to Golf Monthly last year. They were massively spiny for me off the tee whenever hit a bad un.

Whats the point in having a forgiving driver but not a forgiving ball. Anyway when I got fitted at Ping a couple of weeks ago, they use ad 333 balls. They went well and they are now my ball of choice ( at the mo ) 😁👍

I think the z stars are almost too spinny, I've never bought any just used ones I've found and they are amazingly sticky to touch. I think it's good to experiment with these balls if you want to bring your handicap down, learning that control and backspin can be very useful especially on a firm green.

I cant do it on demand but a few times while trying I've managed a few feet of backspin, weather it's required or not there's something really rewarding about it.

I I don't have experience with the tours but I find chrome softs and TT project (a) to be great for somewhere in the middle between spinny and hard.

Kind offer, thanks Patrick

Also considering the AD333 Tour after reading a few reviews. The Urethane cover being preferred against Fusablend.

The best ball I've tried of late was the TM tour preffered x ball. Great ball and not overly spinny.

Prov 1 is everyones fall back on a premium ball and i take my hat off to Titleist for it but IMO it's not suited to most amateurs games as it spins way too much for our bad shots, a slice or hook takes off if you use a pro V. Likewise the Z Star.

Titleist ran their own independent study of their entire golf ball range in 2015 that showed there was only 5 yards carry distance with driver on a robot test machine. Spin increase was only evident on 9 iron up, where the ProV ball really came in to its own. My point being, don't get too hung up on Premium and mid range ball differences!

The NXT Tour S is a great ball, it would be my go to ball for winter use generally, but that doesn't take anything away for summer use! AD333 Tour is great to, very similar. Have you tried the Chrome Soft? Even the previous model if you can find them, as they will be great value now!

I think they're overpriced for what they are and would much rather use one of these available for similar or less at AG, many of which are prior gen tour level balls

AD333 Tour
e6/e7
B330 RX
FG Tour
Chromesoft
RZN Tour Black/Platinum

Have no experience with the Vice balls

NXT Tours are OK, but I really rather like the Tour S - pretty much the right amount of feel. No discernible difference in length but a bit more spin around greens - not that I seem to generate enough to really bite! I actually prefer the Yellow version, which is ever so slightly harder. Chrome soft appears to be pretty comparable - another I'm happy to use.

AD333 Tour could well be similar, but I haven't, yet, tried them.

Another shout for Chromesoft, I was give a sleeve of NXT Tours S, which I tried and could not get on with then they felt so hard and could not get them to stop on our greens

Gareth the tour s and ad 333 tour are very similar, both very good golf balls, I have both in the cupboard, and don't mind which I use. But picked up a box of truvis callaway balls, and have to say that they are fantastic 👍

Did you try the Z star xv?

Best ball I ever played with. Wouldn't even look near a nxt. Had 3 nxt tour S's for a spell last season. Didn't really think they felt much better than a ad333 if am honest. Over priced I feel but then I think a pro v is over priced also.
