Things you see on a golf course

The oddest thing I've seen on our course so far was a turtle. A red-eared slider, to be precise, pretty large as well, almost a foot long. It headed straight for my ball, I guess it thought it was an egg or something, but I beat it to it :D

once waiting on the tee at a course in eccles, there was a huge commotion in the hedges 4 feet to our left. then 4 buzzards set off. it was incredible. took my breath away.

Wildlife in Eccles, are you sure? You'll be telling us Theres herds of Wildebeest galloping across Salford Precinct next :D

We have a fake owl on the clubhouse roof. First time I saw it I spent about 10 mins staring at it waiting for it to move.
Did this on the next 3 visits before the penny dropped

We were paired with a Spanish couple while at Montecastillo last year. Driving round from one green to the next tee and half way there they slam their brakes on and the lady jumps out screaming. Turned out there was a black snake nestled in the little cubby hole at the front of the buggy. I ended up having to scoop it out of their buggy with a 7 iron. She found the funny side eventually.

Haha, brilliant.

What did you think of the course? I played it 3 times in 2011 whilst on holiday there.
Can't remember the hole (par 5 on the back 9), bunch of chaps were in the rough before the green on the right hand side. One lad makes his shot, loses his footing and completely disappeared. The other 2 laughed so hard that I couldn't help but laugh along.

I'm a little concerned you knew the frog had frozen genitalia without the need to closely examing it to establish this fact

I did 'examine' it.
I rolled it over with one of my clubs and it had a block of ice covering half of it's legs and all of it's nuts.

I reckon it was swept up by the wind, then came down when there was a hailstorm.

I really enjoyed it, the 18th is one of the nicest tee shots I've played, great view from up there.

Haha amazing. Is that the one that has the elevated tee and dog-legs round to the left with the deep rough / water on the right? Great hole!

I was really impressed with the course and the little details, like the cups having the Volvo branding on them. The buggies were good as they use GPS too. And the greens-keepers were raking bunkers whilst you played.

I think it dog-legs to the right? Can't really remember. I do remember it being a brave shot to go for in two, as you needed to make sure to stay to the left of the green.

The 18th is pretty cool for sure. Nice to get a big drive and have a short iron into the green. Did you go via Your Golf Travel? The prices are so ridiculously low. I think I paid £99 for 3 nights and 3 rounds of golf. It ended up more expensive as I rented a buggy each day (€30 a day I think) and Easyjet left my clubs and all my equipment in the UK!!!

I'd go again but the downside is there isn't much around that area and the hotel isn't particularly great (definitely not 4* like they claim).
Played Montenmedio whilst I was there as well. That was also pretty decent. Still got the course guide!

Playing in Florida last year and just about to tee off when an armadillo ran across the fairway!

Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, ARMADILLO!

Thank you Harry Enfield for that one.

Yeah used YGT, and got a really good deal. I enjoyed it. I thought the hotel was nice, maybe you just got unlucky, our room was lovely. Food was a bit bland and samey but was a decent holiday.

Funny you say that, we went and played Montenmedio as well. Enjoyed that course. Wasn't in quite as good condition as Montecastillo, but an interesting challenge with some really good holes.

I can't think of a course in Eccles unless you mean Worsley GC which is in Monton and technically Eccles

there was a baby seal on the edge of the 17th green over the Christmas holiday. had been swept up the burn that runs behind the 1st and in front of the 17th on a spring tide. someone called out the SSPCA to come and get it.

See a little family of gazelles on one of the courses i play. There's a lot of desert around that course, and they occasionally mae their way onto the fairways.
