You are certainly over optimistic.

No news. But I had a long chat with our Pro, who, some on here maybe surprised to hear, took on the role of Comp sec as we did have one, and still don't. So, as you would imagine, would you in his position. A main revenue stream lost! He has been doing this for two years! Our club secretary asked him, I kid you not, who was our competition sec. He didn't know! Worse, our handicap sec, is a board member woh just has had his name added as it, but does nothing. No reveiws no nothing. So eight days on from the board meeting where I was told my offer to do the role would be discussed, and I have heard nothing. Am I surprised? Not really. Within our little group, and beyond, word is out I'm offering to do the role, to, apparently, positive responses.

Could someone please translate this into plain English as I can’t follow what is actually being said apart from the last couple of sentences.

I don't think they want me to do it. It's rubbish, but not really fussed as, if everything comes off, I'll be way for a large chunk on the decent playing season anyway.

I can’t believe they don’t want you to do it.
I can tell from your posts your a level headed common sense type of guy who thinks carefully before deciding on an action.
To be honest from what you have posted previously I reckon your best off not being involved but hats off for trying to make a change and a difference
